1.) How about a brief introduction of yourself?
Lynne, 44 years old, very happily married, proud mom, college graduate, retiree due to MS, aspiring novelist, domestic engineer
2.) Fabulous! And what got you into fanfiction to begin with?
Getting a home computer and discovering there was such a thing as Voltron fanfiction
3.) I see,so what kind of fanfiction do you write?
Romance/Drama/Humor/Parody- with more genres to come. ^__^ To date, I've written for the Voltron, Fushigi Yuugi and Eyeshield 21 fandoms. ^__^
4.) Do you tend to write the same pairings/characters? Or are you a fandom whore?
I've stuck to three pairings--for now. I'm primarily a romance author, so the couple inspires the tales I write.
5.) What is your most popular fanfic and why do you think people like it so?
To be honest, I'm getting great responses to all my fanfictions- ( I'm hoping that stems from people liking me as an author. ^__^)
6.) Forget other people , what is the fanfic you've written you're most proud of?
Hm...probably Bonds of Love (Voltron-- Keith/Allura)
7.) Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing you struggle with?
Getting ideas and the writing itself is easy. Finding the time and energy to work on things can be hard, and there's the danger of burnout when I've been working on one fic too long. But I'd say my biggest struggle is balancing putting my need to put my best work out there for people to read, with the demands I get for updates....=P
8.) Write a few sentences or so of your favorite pairing or character.
Dante (aka reincarnated Tasuki) and Miaka...
"Okay, little Miss Miaka...whatcha thinking about now?"
"I don't know what you mean."
"Yes you do. You're imagining us doin' somethin'. Tell me!"
"Or else what?"
"I'm a cop. 'Nuff said."
^__^
9.) Are there any fanfiction trends/cliches you can't stand or are just sick of?
I'm tired of seeing stories that portray rape/incest/humilation as sexual turn ons and/or that put forth the completely bogus idea that 'healing' sex is possible. I also get exasperated with erotica fics that use purple prose and repetitive, unorginal sexual phrases (if someone wants a list, comment and I'll give you one) .
I'm also tired of seeing stories with spelling, punctuation and typos that could all be caught by a simple run of spell and grammar check. I'm also tired of pointing this out to authors and being blown off. My new and permanent policy now is that if I click on a story and see that the author can't be bothered to fix the most basic of errors, then I really can't be bothered to read it or anything else they write. >_<
10.) Are you guilty of any of the fanfiction trends/cliches you now hate? Or any other ones?
Holy crap, no!! I would give up writing before I'd ever use rape or incest as a means to sexually titiliate.
I do my very best to write original love scenes for all my stories, to keep the characters in character when they're being intimate, and to not reuse the same descriptions. I also do my best to post error free text;. I usually have my hubby proofread for me when he can just in case I've missed something.
.
As for other trends and cliches...I write about life and relationships the way I see and live them; there' s really nothing trendy about that. If my liking to write about two people loving and respecting each other while they make love is cliched, then so be it. >)
Part Two is coming up...I need a little more time to think about my answers...
...and you can stop laughing now, Kaz!!! =P =P =P
