Title: Love Spelled Backwards is 'Evol'
Rating: PG
Characters: Mirror-verse!Kirk, Mirror-verse!Spock
Pairing: Kirk/Spock
Word Count: About 300
Summary: Everything Kirk did was to ensure personal gain. (He was not worried about Spock.)

Author's Note: Just a quick-fill drabble for a prompt on the ST XI Kink meme.

The prompt: "Er, yeah. I'd love to see a Mirror!verse fic where Mirror!Kirk and Mirror!Spock show that they love each other. Does not have to be schmoopy - actually, I'd prefer that it not be. So include all the verbal abuse and/or death threats they need to maintain the chain of command, but deep down you know they feel something more than convenience."

"Don't worry, Jim. He'll be fine."

"I'm not worried." Kirk turned to face the CMO. Bones, Bones. Always the sentimental type; always wanting to push flagrant emotionalism onto him. "Not about him. If Commander Spock gets himself killed, it'll be his own damn fault. The only thing I'm worried about is if that green-blooded son-of-a-bitch doesn't make it, Sulu is next in line as his replacement. And that only means trouble."

McCoy folded his arms across his chest, "Of course, Captain."

Kirk turned his attention back to his still unconcious first officer. The Vulcan's goatee stuck out even more against now far-too-pale skin. Jim growled and punched the wall. The natives of Tarun III had ambushed them under false pretense of surrender. Pacifists my ass. He thought. If Spock had had any desire to assume leadership, he wouldn't have taken the poison dart intended for Kirk... And he certainly wouldn't be lying on the biobed, barely alive.

But he wasn't concerned for Spock's health, oh no. It was only out of his gratitude that Kirk demanded McCoy save the Vulcan. Only out of debt that he kept prying hands of the morbidly curious medical officers from performing a pre-mortum autopsy. Only out of a sense of self-perservation that he ordered his team of trusted security officers to guard the room's doors so he could watch Spock, protect him.

Yes, that was the reason.

And when Spock finally came to hours later, Jim informed the still recovering commander that Tarun III had been destroyed for defying the Empire (For nearly killing you), it was for personal gain. Because gleam in his first officer's eyes confirmed that the action was not only acceptable, but appreciated. And that meant that whenever the Vulcan was deemed fit for duty, Kirk was getting laid.
