This weekend went by so fast.
Volunteered at the iTRI at school on Friday and it really opened my eyes.
There were only 45 participants at the iTRI but they were at so many different levels and finished a 2 mile run, 7 mile bike, 400m swim in less in an hour. I was the Finish line collecting their tabs and congratulating them. It was a very uplifting moment seeing their faces just light up after they finished.
There was a couple who really got to me. The gentleman finished first and saw his girlfriend near the end of the swim, he encouraged her and told her to push hard. As she was running towards the finish line I saw her face and it was filled wish so much emotion. They embraced, kissed, and just looked at each others eyes. It was so gosh darn cute.
Then seeing the blind athlete with his trainer, was really an inspiration.
I saw him running, cycling and swim on his own. Wow.
Age, illnesses or impairments didn't deter any of these individuals to compete at the mini-triathlon and I am very proud to have been volunteering at the event.
It was a great experience and hope to do it again next year.
Now onto some of my own training.
Only worked out twice last week since I pulled a muscle on my right calf.
Its a bit stiff still but should be better.
This this week I am purchasing a real Road Bike.
I cannot wait!
