While engaging in my usual Saturday afternoon BBC 3 listening, I clicked on one of my favorites, The Early Music Show, and heard ...
Sting sings the works of John Dowland, accompanied by a lutenist and a choir. Yes, that would be
John Dowland, 1523-1626, composer, singer, and lutenist. Sting also released an album,
Songs from the Labyrinth, with the same material.
The result sounds decidedly strange, because it's Sting, but I like it nonetheless. He also reads excerpts from Dowland's letters in between pieces, to provide some context. Actually, I like the way he reads aloud -- I'd listen to an audiobook from him any day.
If you're interested in listening, hop on it, because they'll take it down after tomorrow (Sunday).
