A couple of Paddy's pressies for you ...

First, read The Onion's Irish-Heritage Timeline. Classic.

Then, go to The Prodigals' website and download such fabulous songs as "Lord Randall" and "The Open Reel." I really can't say enough good things about these guys. Wonderfully talented, humorous, modern, yet true to their roots. Not to mention that they're amazingly friendly and gracious with their fans. I've met them twice, and they never cease to blow me away.

And if you really like these guys, buy their new live album, Beachland Bootleg. It's got 17 Proddies classics, recorded live at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland (and of course live is always better with these guys!), AND, the best part of this is that if you order it today, it's only $10, and that's including a DVD with live footage and interviews. It'll be $17 starting tomorrow.

Anyway. So Happy St. Paddy's, everyone. I'll try to refrain from any antics involving leprechauns in plastic green hats or the indecent use of the word "blarney." And no, I'm not even wearing green today. Basically because I haven't got anything green. But I do have several potato-eating ancestors with drinking problems, and that's really the spirit of the heritage, eh? ;)
