Nah. That would be, I think, too PC or something. I think (my conception of) your gut feeling of "maybe I could, but, uh, that's sort of strange to have to" is right on. Strange though it is, seeing a Self-Harm Warning on something is, at least for me, more of a trigger than just seeing angsty, tortured Lex, you know?

Yeah, you've got pretty good characterization of my gut. ;) And I think of it that way too, where it seems that maybe I shouldn't bring up self-harm just because there's blood or whatever, since bringing it up as little as possible seems to be the goal (and maybe they wouldn't have thought of it if I hadn't mentioned it). It's just that ruedifference (and others) always carefully label these things, and I try to respect their wishes. But as someone who has basically no personal experience with self-harm, it's difficult for me to judge what's okay and what isn't.

The thumbtack thing is so not retarded. Your brain made a connection that makes sense considering your past and the fact that we've been talking about this because of Awareness Day. And I think that maybe flipping out because it reminded you of something negative is a big step forward from flipping out because it made you want to cut. The symbolism is still there, and that's okay, but your innate feeling is that you don't want to hurt yourself, yeah? And that's a good thing.

Goddamn liberal arts education. :D

Goddamn intellectuals, prancing all over with their high-minded theories and whatnot. We really need to think less and toil in factories more.
