So the other day I was playing some
Reach when I hear this short weird sound coming from
my laptop sitting on the coffee table behind me.
I turn around, and the screen is dark. Huh., I thought. Something crashed? That usually only happens when I'm running the
Second Life client, making the poor integrated video card melt. The fans are still running, though.
Pressing the off-switch doesn't work, pressing and holding the off-switch turns it off. Wait three seconds, turn it on again. The lights go on, the CPU fan starts spinning and then.. nothing. No boot sequence, no hard disk noise. Uh-oh.
I try again, same thing. I try again later, but now the CPU fan spins down after a second or four and the laptop just sits there, the power light on but nothing working.
So, something's seriously broken and until further notice I'll be offline. =/
I could get a new laptop, but anything I buy
here will have a
British keyboard layout, and that's sufficiently different from the American layout I'm used to that I really don't want to deal with that. Anything back home will have American layout, but shipping will be an expensive pain.
