This statement might not end up being very popular, but i am happy with the outcomes of last nights meeting. I think that to fight for a cause, you have to make sacrifices, this was a big one, but it allowes us to keep advocate jointness on the district and national level, and it gets the monkey (nationals) off our back so we can go back to what we need to be doing. Helping out the bands. We are still joint. In being who we are, we can affect the future of this fraturnity by only letting in those who hold our jointness in high regards.
I also was torn because I would have been torn between letting a sister into KKPsi. I personally feel that the article in the National Constitutions reguarding associate membership was meant to help those in TBS who change schools. It would have been a mockery of my Frat to bring about the downfall of another like organization in perverting this particular portion of the National Constitution.
KKPsi is a Service Fraternity. Service and Brotherhood are two parts of a whole in that statement. KKPsi should not exist without one or another. Likewise, TBS is a Service Sorority, Sisterhood and Service are two parts of that whole. If a sister has a problem with one or the other, they are with as on they're own wishes.
Yes, there has been discrimination in the past. But that has to end with us here and now. I will not stand for telling someone they can get into a chapter on the bases of they're gender. If a candidate approaches me next fall and talks to me about joining a group, i will support them one hundred percent, reguardless of his/her gender. If I find that another male candidate is being told that TBS is for girls, I will personally set him straight and ask who told him thus with the intent on reporting that person. I would also respectfully ask that someone report myself if I do the same. Because it was wrong when it happened to you doesn't make it right when you do it.
I love and respect all my brothers and sisters, but we need to make sure that the actions that we are taking are in the right, legally and morally. It starts with us. The new chapter of the chapters KKPsi and TBS at San Diego State starts now. Lets make this chapter a masterpiece. Lets make these chapters a masterpiece. This novel isn't over yet.
