Fandom: Nightmare Before Christmas

a short little thing, tacked on to the end of the movie



She flew to the top of the rise and sank to her knees. Privacy! It was a rare gift, especially for her.

What could she say? It was a nervous habit.

She pulled off the first petal.

Jack's okay. And Sandy Claws fixed everything. We're all alive - and Oogie's dead.

She pulled off the second petal.

The doctor's got his newest creation off the table. That's... good. Except that she looks like a mutated version of him. Not so good, but... I'm just glad to be out of there.

So apparently, I'm free, now. Free to do what I want. Free to... do everything I already do.

A voice bubbled up from her subconscious. You could leave.

Leave? And go where?

Her eyes nearly drifted to the Forest before she stopped them. I'm not going anywhere, not while-

She pulled off the third petal. As if prompted, Jack started to sing below her.

My dearest friend, if you don't mind
I'd like to join you by your side
Where we can gaze into the stars

And when she joined him, it just felt... right.

And sit together, now and forever
For it is plain as anyone can see
We're simply meant to be

And then he kissed her.

It didn't shake the earth or any of those sorts of things; that was because Halloween Town wasn't actually on Earth.

It shook the moon, though. The tides were twenty two point six eight seconds late the next day. If anyone had been keeping track, they might have wondered why, and we can answer them with simply this:

The Moon stood still.

When Sally stepped back to take Jack's hands once more, she smiled. Then she grinned.

"You're trying to stop yourself saying 'I told you so', aren't you?" Jack squeezed her hands, more out of affection than annoyance, and grinned back. "I should have listened to you." His smile faded. "I'll always listen to you, Sally. No matter what."

Her grin turned wicked, and she tucked her arms around his waist, then stepped up close. "Good. Because I have some ideas for next Halloween..."
