Title: Chilly
Pairing: Masuda/Tegoshi
Rating: PG
Summary: Tegoshi's bed is cold, but Massu is warm
Massu had only just fallen into a doze when he felt the bed dip, and Tegoshi slid under the covers with him, wriggling up against his back and spooning him.
Slender arms circled his waist and an icy cold nose pressed into his neck from behind.
“Tegoshi?” His voice came out thick and slurred with drowsiness. “What're you doing?”
Tegoshi let out a content sigh in response, and stretched his legs, tensing then relaxing the muscles.
“It's cold. My bed is cold,” he whispered. “And you're warm.”
Massu thought about arguing that he should get out, if only for the sake of decency, but he could feel the chilly night air seeping through the blanket on one side, and the heat radiating from the small, soft body moulded against him on the other.
He let his hands come to lie atop Tegoshi’s where they rested on his stomach, and fell back asleep.
Title: Constant
Pairing: Masuda, Tegoshi (gen)
Rating: G
Summary: Massu isn't Tegoshi's closest friend, but he's still important
Massu isn't Tegoshi's best or closest friend; Massu's best friends are people from his hometown, and Tegoshi's best friends come and go, revolving around soccer. Tegoshi has had a lot of friends who have at one point been closer to him than Massu is, who he has since fallen out of contact with.
And that's what Massu is to him, really: Massu is constant, secure, has been there for almost ten years now, with the same haircut and the same warm smile the entire time. They were TegoMasu before there was NEWS, and Tegoshi could rely on him then, just like he can now.
To him, Massu is like that childhood friend you grow up with and don't have anything in common with anymore, but can never really grow apart from. It's a bond that reaches deeper than hobbies and interests, tastes in music and clothes. It's a history.
They don't hang out that much in their free time anymore, but together they've shared successes and losses, triumphs and failures, in ways that they haven't with anyone else. They've shared fears and hopes, hotel rooms and, one time, even Tegoshi’s hotel bed when Massu had found a huge spider under his own covers, and they'd both been too afraid to move it.
It's hard to say what they are, and maybe there's not really a word for it. They're not best friends, but in a way, what they have is stronger, deeper, something more difficult to break.
Massu has always been there, is still there, probably will always be there for him. It's something that's easy to overlook, to take for granted, but then again, all the simplest, most important things are.
Title: Kiss
Pairing: Masuda/Tegoshi
Rating: PG
A/N: Inspired by the 2010.04.19 episode of K-chan NEWS
Summary: Tegoshi wants to kiss Massu. It turns out to be more difficult than he'd anticipated.
He's snuggled against Massu on the couch, head resting on his chest, listening to his heart beating while Massu strokes his hair, and Tegoshi thinks he couldn't be happier.
He's so comfortable, so relaxed, and Massu's arm around his waist fills Tegoshi with such a surge of affection that he thinks he'd really like to break down that next barrier between them, take their relationship a little further.
It seems like the perfect moment; they're cosy and alone, peacefully holding each other, and he feels so overwhelmingly in love.
“Massu,” Tegoshi says, voice ultra soft. “I want to kiss you.”
The hand stroking his hair falters for a second, but then starts to move normally again, and Massu replies, a little awkwardly, “Okay.”
He's a little nervous, but that's okay, because he can hear Massu's heart start to beat faster and knows he's nervous too.
Tegoshi sits up and leans in, focusing on Massu's plump lips and flushed cheeks, then closes his eyes and angles his head for a kiss.
That is, until Massu starts to laugh, his low, embarrassed, “Uhuhu” chuckle, and Tegoshi pulls back, cracks open an eye and frowns.
“What’s so funny?” He asks, wondering for a moment if his kissing face looks weird or something.
Massu coughs, shakes his head. “No, nothing’s funny, it’s just… it’s weird having your face so close to mine, is all.”
Tegoshi is offended for a moment, but brushes it off. Massu means no harm, after all.
“You’re not supposed to kiss with your eyes open, you know,” he says gently, and Massu actually blushes.
“I know, I just… I know. I’ll close my eyes this time.” Tegoshi smiles. Massu is cute when he’s flustered.
He waits until Massu closes his eyes this time, then takes his face in his hands and leans in, just in time for Massu to duck his head start laughing again.
“Sorry… Sorry,” he forces out through his giggles, eyes flicking open to stare up at Tegoshi guiltily. “I could feel your breath on my face and it made me nervous.”
Tegoshi sighs. He’s gotten so used to it that he’d forgotten just how awkward Massu can be at times.
“Never mind. Why don’t you kiss me instead?”
He closes his eyes again and puckers his lips, only to immediately be met with more hysterical giggles from Massu.
“I’m sorry,” he apologises again, between gasping breaths. “I don’t know why I’m laughing. It’s just your face… I just… I’m sorry…”
Tegoshi purses his lips, fighting the urge to glare, and tries to shove his irritation aside. It doesn’t really matter if he doesn’t get his kiss, he reasons. The mood is gone now anyway.
“Never mind.” He forces a weak smile. “I’m getting hungry. Shall we start dinner?”
Massu bites his lip gently, not laughing anymore.
“Tegoshi…”
“It’s fine,” Tegoshi reassures him, pasting on a bigger, brighter smile. “Massu can’t help being Massu, right?”
That comment only results in a frown, and when Tegoshi goes to get up, Massu pulls him back, pressing a little kiss to his jaw.
“That’s…” He swallows, not meeting Tegoshi’s eyes. “I’ll do better next time.”
Tegoshi smiles, shakes his head.
“No, it’s okay. Do it again?” He asks in the sweetest voice he can muster, and when Massu leans in to kiss his cheek, Tegoshi quickly turns his head and catches Massu’s lips with his own.
Massu doesn’t pull away.
Title: Raincoat
Pairing: Masuda/Tegoshi, Shigeaki/Tegoshi
Rating: PG
Summary: Massu and Tegoshi wait for Shige on a rainy day
The rain is falling in bucketfuls and Tegoshi and Massu are waiting under awning for Shige to turn up and join them so they can go for dinner. Massu thinks it's quite nice really, with the lights cutting through the rain and reflecting in the puddles; magical. He casts a side glance at Tegoshi. Romantic, almost.
Tegoshi, however, sighs for what must be the twentieth time that night. Or maybe the thirtieth, Massu has lost count.
“What's up?” He finally asks, curiosity overwhelming his natural inclination to leave these things be.
Tegoshi gives him a dismal, suffering look and sighs again for good measure.
“It's raining,” he says miserably, and Massu raises an eyebrow.
“You've never had a problem with that before as long as you were dry.”
Tegoshi scowls.
“Massu. Shige is coming,” he says, like that explains everything.
“I know that. Does the rain make it a problem?”
Tegoshi shakes his head, sighing yet again.
“You know how I feel about Shige,” he says, and Massu has to bite his tongue.
He knows all too well how Tegoshi feels about Shige, because he spends a lot of time wishing that was how Tegoshi felt about him instead. He can't say this to his face though. Not when Tegoshi has his heart set on someone else.
“Yeah...”
“What am I going to do, Massu?” Tegoshi stares out into the sea of umbrellas, eyes misty and mouth downturned. “He looks so hot when he's wet...”
Massu doesn't say anything, and just follows his line of sight, watching a couple under an umbrella and feeling a pang of jealousy.
5 minutes later, Shige turns up. Shige, however, does not have an umbrella. Shige is wearing a raincoat. A yellow raincoat. A yellow raincoat, with a large, protruding, yellow hood.
Massu presses closer against Tegoshi and whispers into his ear, “... he looks like a duck.”
They're still leaning against each other, laughing uncontrollably when he finds them, clutching their stomachs and unable to speak through their hysterics.
Shige has no idea what they're laughing about, and he never finds out.
