my mother deals with death in a very stand-offish way, and it comes off as heartless. she was very matter-of-fact when she told me my cat died, and now she's telling me that my grandmother is dying. she didn't sound upset. she even laughed at the fact that my grandmother is losing her mind. i wish she would show some sort of compassion. something. because really, her carelessness makes it harder on me.
