This week has been, in some ways, just as shitty as
last week, but in others a lot better. So. Let's see, last Thursday I think
was OK, but then on Friday I was late for English, so Mrs. Jensen gave
me detention. DETENTION! After all the stuff Will did, he never got
detention, but I'm late ONCE (ok, maybe twice) and I get it. Ah,
whatever. The sleepover at Hind's was obviously cancelled because Lucy
didn't come, so I was decorating A TON of cakes and tarts and cupcakes
for the bakesale on Saturday. Then I watched Donnie Darko later
Saturday, and it was soooo cool! It freaked me out a little at first,
and then I realized that Frank wasn't bad, and afterwards it gave this
weird sort of peace. Like I was totally happy with who I was, and I
knew exactly what I wanted. I don't think happy really describes it,
though. Huh.
Sunday was church and helping at the bakesale.
Blaaaah. I made some pretty cool stuff, though, so maybe I'll post some
pics Mom took later. That night I made dumplings for me and mom for
dinner, and THAAAAAT was pretty sweet. I did it without even the
slightest trace of a recipe! First (since I simply must
entreat you all to a detailed description, haha), I chopped some
mushrooms and a couple cloves of garlic and sauteed them in soy sauce
and sesame oil, and when they were nearly done I whisked an egg and
scrambled it in with them, for protein and to sort of mellow out the
flavor. All the while, I had shrimp boiling on the stove, so about the
time the mushroom mix was done, the shrimp were ready to be taken out.
I chopped those, too, then mixed all the ingredients together in a nice
bowl and put a little spoonful into the dumpling wrapper, brushed the
edges with a little water so they'd stick, and pressed the dumpling
together and repeated like a bazillion times. When they were all done,
I heated some more sesame oil in the pan, pan-fried them a little and
then steamed them with soy sauce and water. Next time I think I'll just
steam them, though, so they won't get stuck to the pan. But I like the
idea of twice-flavoring them with the soy and sesame. Ok, I'll edit in
more later! :)
