As I was telling Leesh, I think "Meru" will be occur about every other word in the following.... don't say I didn't warn you. Oh, and Michael, if you do this in the comment section of my lj, I will delete it without looking at it.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Fall in love, spend significant amounts of time not under familial supervision, meet someone (awesome) from the internet, get really really overwhelmed with classes, not get horribly horribly stressed out from school, take GREs, apply to grad school

2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Ha. I always keep my New Year's Resolutions. It's really pretty easy, when they don't exist, though I imagine if I bothered to make any resolutions, I would keep them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.

5. What countries did you visit?
Well, I will have visited France and Egypt, by the end of this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Proximity.

7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 6 or 7 or 8 or something like that. (That's about as etched as it gets), when Meru and I started dating, and March 3ish, when we met, and May ... 15-21? during which I was at Caltech.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Meru, managing not to fail more than one class. I guess the research grants are pretty nice, also.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Algebraic topology (see above), or maybe the math GRE. I guess after that, my next biggest failure is probably topology, but I'm going to go ahead and blame that on our only having four homework assignments.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
various joint pains, which got pretty bad at some points

11. What was the best thing someone bought you?
Um.... I'm going to have to go with... sushi....

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Meru's.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My parents'.

14. Where did most of your money go?
applying to grad school, visiting Meru

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Meru! (and visiting him and things like that)

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Hmm. Maybe Tegan & Sara - This is Everything, or Muse - Endlessly. Or, on a less depressing note, (sorry, didn't intend that), Guns n' Roses - Sweet Child o'Mine, Yes - Roundabout, Boston - Peace of Mind, Michael Jackson - Human Nature, that one song with cutting off legs in it, The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black , Oasis - Wonderwall, Inside Out - Innocence II.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Well, in a general last year sort of sense, I'm happier.
b) fatter or skinnier? I think I have regained the five pounds I lost this summer.
c) richer or poorer? Richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Swords. Working out generally, I guess... and maybe I wish I'd played harp more.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not really. I might hate Max a bit.

25. What was the best book you read?

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006?
Parents are not perfect.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Innocence, Simplicity of youth.
Not a care in the world...
I wanna run and I wanna shout and I wanna play your game.
I wanna know what you're about will you please stay with me.
'Cause I feel like a child again,
And you are my best friend.
And I know that we can live forever.
Stay with me, there's no end...
'Cause I'm dreaming dreams and I'm seeing things I ain't ever seen before.
I'd scorn to change my place with kings, I couldn't ask for more...
But if we're gonna live forever, I'll live for you, you live for me.
We've had our ups, we've had our downs, and we've seen brighter days.
If this is love, let's work it out. Will you please stay with me.
