You do realize how overpoweringly effective your empathy can be, right? It's not flashy and it's not necessarily something immediate, but you definitely give your side an advantage with that skill, a skill (from what I remember) no one else can duplicate. Also, aren't your fighting skills also superb? I understand why you want to be able to do more, but remember what you already have. It's an impressive arsenal.

Oh, no one you know. My friend--vice-captain--Noi-chan. Her mother's abusive. Well, not in the physical sense. She's the kind of person who can spit acid into your soul and have you believing you deserved it. I've heard her scream to Noi-chan, "I hate you! I wish you'd never been born!" And, yeah, she should realize her mother doesn't really mean it, but it still hurts. I can see it in her eyes. ...I think maybe Akaya is getting a double whammy--the physical and the emotional.

We all can. It just takes work and discovering what works for you. You won't get any arguments from me there. It's pretty much essential to who I am. Have you thought of ways to increase the strengths you already have?
It makes perfect sense to me once you explained about the eyes. Knowing him, he probably thinks--thought?--he could outsmart it.
A cactus. I know what he has. I don't know enough about photography to choose anything, and I'm not sure what books on it he owns. I'm not sure how many people will give him cactus, but they can be hard to find if you don't plan ahead (or know where to look).

You are his equal. You're just different. What you want, though, is something that's immediately powerful, right? I think I understand. Even if you nudged people to be a certain way for their own good, how can you be sure you have all the answers? How can you be sure they're the right ones? And, what's more, who gave you the right?
Hmmmm, I wonder...could the lashing out have tired you because you let go of everything, even your own emotions? Is there a way to separate them? It sounds like a good idea, sort of like what I do with my frustrations and anger and stuff on the courts, but you have to keep your focus tight or it doesn't work. Spirit arrows sound interesting, and you already said you're good at archery. We'll find him.
No, he's not easy, but that would explain some things I've wondered about.

Noi-chan thinks her mom doesn't mean to say hurtful things. She laughs it off like it doesn't matter, but I can tell that it does. Of course, it does. Oh, sure. She can visit friends and do school stuff and all. Noi-chan is very sweet and quiet and intense.
It's March. I need to go home soon. End of term is coming up. But I don't like leaving you with this mess on your hands.

Ew. NO. Stay away from him. The only point in understanding why he's that way is if it helps to defeat him once and for all. Otherwise, who cares? Just get rid of him.

We talk. It's not something she wants to talk about because it makes her sadder. If she doesn't think about it, she can pretend it doesn't mean anything. A lot of kids at my school have problems like that--or like Akaya's. Some people might say it's because a lot of them come from poorer families, but I think it's just that they're more up front about things. It happens all over. I think that's one reason why I picked up on what was happening with Akaya. Or maybe I just pay attention. I have Noi-chan over when I'm able. She doesn't like to leave her little sister home with their mom.
Oh, I know. It really did help me to get away, Hisoka. I can probably stay out the weekend, but I should head back Sunday night and be at school come Monday. You need to give me those archery lessons, too!
