Happy Fourth!

Since I chose a job in an industry that helps everyone else celebrate holidays, I worked today.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though.  Brittney and I started off by raiding the kitchen fridge (pastries from the breakfast buffet...yum), then watched a little bit of TV.  Then I laughed at Susan, who called me from DC, soaked through to her underwear and hiding under a kiosk because of the pouring rain.  Later, a really nice guy checked in, and after talking to him for a little while, he offered to buy us dinner from Outback.  We protested an appropriate amount, then gave in to him insisting that we order steak..  :O)  So there we sit (against the rules of the front desk), eating our salads and steaks, with sodas taken from the fridge, and an ipod with speakers on the desk, when who walks in, but the Sales Manager.  Imagine your best caught-with-your-hand-in-the-cookie-jar look, and you've got the face I was making when he walked in the door.  Oh yeah, and I think my face turned beet red.  He walked by and Brittney and I just started laughing because we had totally been caught doing a million things we shouldn't have been doing.  Luckily for us, he didn't care at all (the plus of working on a holiday) and just laughed at us.   Later, we went outside for a few minutes and watched the fireworks in between the buildings.

And now I'm home, thinking that I should get some sleep, since I am working a turnover shift tomorrow.... 7am to 3pm.

This is the common theme of the day, but everyone pray for Carlos who is over in Iraq serving our country.  God Bless him and all the other troops.
