Where the "N" stands for Knowledge...

So today was my first day at the wonderful establishment that is NOVA. But the story is not so simple as that. I must tell it from the beginning...

I wake up this morning on time and ready to go. I get dressed, eat breakfast, play on my computer...the essentials. Then I decide at 11:30 that I am going to drive on over to Caribou and treat myself to an iced soy chai in honor of my return to school. So I leave Leslie's house and before I've driven 2 minutes I push my gas pedal to accelerate up a hill....and nothing happens. OK....GREAT! I careen off the road onto a side road when the car comes to a dead stop right in the middle of the side road....blocking the entrance. Yesss... And my check engine light is on. So I call Mick...

Mick: Hello
Anna: Hi...my car just died
Mick: I don't want to hear it. No more car problems.

[I failed to mention that Emily's car broke down this morning while Susan was driving it....]

So I check the oil and it was at the fill line, but not like super low. OK, usually I check this more often...maybe it's been longer that I thought since the last time I checked. So I put a little oil in it, made sure the car hadn't overheated, turned it back on and everything was PEACHY. So I call Mick back, continue on to Caribou, and then proceed to class, where Leslie saved me a BEAUTIFUL parking spot right next to my building.

Class... 3 hours long. I don't know if I can handle this. Haha. Anyway, the class is Hotel-Restaurant Organization and Management. Sounds boring enough, right? But I actually think it's going to be pretty interesting. We did spend hte entire 3 HOURS going over the syllabus, but it should get better when we actually start to learn stuff. My class has 20 people in it which is amazing! I love small classes...they are a hindrance to napping and text messaging, however.

Anyway, the atmosphere at NOVA is so different than at JMU (and I am quite the expert after my one class....haha). There are the stereotypical NOVA....well, losers. But other people are so interested by the classes because they are working in the industry now and want a degree or they are just really dedicated to school. All of the people in my class have jobs and I like this so much better than the party-minded atmosphere at JMU.

Well, I think that is enough of my musings for one afternoon. I will update later on more of my NOVA experience haha....
