a/n 1: Hello~! Sorry for the long wait.

After what has happened that night, Jin and Kame’s relationship has gotten better. Jin has managed to persuade Kame to find out about her past. He thought that going to Tokyo would be too risky for them since they still have no idea about Kame’s life in Tokyo in the past. Thus, Jin decided to try to find information from the police. It turned out, Jin couldn’t get anything from the police because he’s not Kame’s family or relatives. Hence, he asked Kame to send a request to the police. The answer from the police came a day after Kame sent the request. the police gave their permission and told Kame to come to the police station soon.

So several days later after that, here they are right now, at the police station, waiting to talk to the police in charge.

One of the police officer comes out from a room in front of their sitting place. He calls Kame’s name and tells her that she and Jin can come inside to the room. Kame sends Jin a nervous glance. Jin only holds her hand tighter and offers a small smile to the police officer before led Kame to come into the room.

“Please sit down.” Says the man behind the not so big desk.

Both Jin and Kame do as he says.

“I’m Nemoto. The Inspector gave me this case and assigned me to lead the investigation.” The man, Nemoto, elaborates. “Months ago, I met you so often.” He turns his head to Kame’s direction.

“I already introduced myself back then, but I suppose you won’t remember.” Nemoto continues. “I understand very well your condition back then.”

Kame only nods at him. It’s true, she doesn’t remember much about what happened when she was in depression. Her psychologist told her that it’s a normal thing.

“And you must be Akanishi san. We never met before because when you decided to take care of her, I was away for business out of this town.” Averting his attention to Jin, the police officer smiles at him. “I see that you have made a good decision.” He says as he rise from his seat to turn off the lamp.

“So shall we begin?” Nemoto asks to both of them before walking back to his desk to turn on the projector.

Jin feel Kame’s cold hand gripping his right hand on her lap. The police officer tells them the date when Kame was found in the warehouse near the harbour. The slide starts to show them photos of the warehouse, area surrounding the warehouse, the police line. The warehouse area is a deserted area because people rarely pass by that area. “She was found by a woman that pass the warehouse for a shortcut to her house. She tought that she found a corpse and immediately call us,” Jin has listened to this before, directly from the woman herself.

Then the police officer continues showing them photos of Kame’s condition when she was found. “The doctors noted that she was tied on her wrist and ankle, for a long time, since the bruises were dark and deep,” The slide shows bruises on her wrist and ankle with traces of rope on her wrist and ankle. “She was found with bruises all over her body including her face. Her hair was cut short messily,” He shows the images. Jin feels rage starts to bubble up inside of him. How is it possible for someone like Kame to be treated that cruel.

Jin can’t see her expression because the room is kind of dark. Yet, Jin knows that Kame’s is more nervous and scared from the way she grips Jin’s hand. It’s getting tighter and he also can feel her trembling.

“Report from the doctor also stated that there were traces of men’s sperm and sexual assault.” Nemoto stops a second. “We also found out that she’s pregnant. Unfortunately, the doctors couldn’t save the baby.” He turns the projector off and walks to switch the light on.

“There is only one possibility, she was kidnapped, tortured, and…” the police paused, “raped.” Nemoto sits back to his seat. “She was in a coma for about a week. With all the injuries and infections, it’s a miracle that you’re still alive.”

The police officer also tells them about the comments from the witnesses. The police tried to find Kame’s family or relatives in order to solve the case and arrest the perpetrator. Nevertheless, the couldn’t find anything. None of Kame’s family or relatives identified, they even couldn’t find out about Kame’s identity. The case is like a dead end. Therefore, Kame was put in the hospital while the police continued their investigation.

Two hours has passed. All the explanations come like a storm to Jin. It must be even worse for Kame. He’s so worried for her. Her face is pale, her body is cold and she’s quivering. After saying thank you to Nemoto, Jin rushes to take Kame home.

After arriving at their house, Jin lead her to the bedroom, afraid that she will pass out due to shock. In the bedroom, Jin help Kame to sit on the bed. But suddenly, she runs to the bathroom, Jin immediately follows her because he’s afraid something will happen to her.

In the bathroom, Jin sees Kame sitting on the floor, throwing up in the toilet bowl. Jin kneels beside her, one hand hold her hair to keep it away from her vomit, while his other hand is massaging the back of Kame’s neck. Kame keeps throwing up while crying.

Kame is still crying but she has stop emptying her stomach. Jin helps her to clean up, wiping her mouth. Kame almost slumped if Jin doesn’t hold her body. Jin think that Kame is too limp to walk so he carries her bridal style to the bed. He lays her on the bed, put blanket on her, and is about to walk away to let Kame sleep when he feels her grip on his wrist. Kame doesn’t say anything but Jin understand that she doesn’t want him to go.

Jin smiles, stroking Kame’s hair before climbing to bed and settles himself beside her. Kame moves closer to Jin and hid her face on his chest, crying.

“Shhh.. Kame don’t cry. I’m here.” Jin rubs her back, kissing Kame’s forehead to soothe her.

Kame doesn’t stop crying. “Jin.. Make me forget.. please..” She begs with soft voice between her sobs.

Jin nods and kisses Kame’s forehead once more. He will fulfill Kame’s request. He moves to straddle her. Kissing her deeply on her lips. Kame kisses him back hard with so much passion. Jin knows that what he does right now won’t erase Kame’s past, but for now, he hopes that his love for Kame is enough to take off her mind from her past for a while. Jin stops thinking when he hears Kame moans for him and continues his ministration to bring her to pleasure.

-----

Kame stops and stares at the white building in front of her. She is not ready to go in there to find out about the truth in her past. She just wants to go back, living her present life with Jin peacefully. But then she feels someone holds her hand. She sees Jin standing beside her, giving her hand a squeeze, silently reassures her that he will always be there with her.

Thinking that she doesn’t want to disappoint Jin. She convinces herself that it’s okay, they are already reach this far. Only a few steps away and they will probably get to know about her past. Squeezing Jin’s hand back, she walks to the hospital hand in hand with Jin.

After around a month saving money and healing Kame from the shock of knowing how the police found her, they are finally able to go to Tokyo. Tokyo is scary for Kame because she doesn’t know what secret the city going to reveal if she digs in further, and she doesn’t feel save in Tokyo. For Jin, Tokyo is atrocious because he feels many eyes are staring at him. He tries to tell himself that it’s only his feeling, people he meet on the street, on the bus, everywhere, are stranger. They don’t know him.

Jin has managed to get rid of that feelings and he feels accomplished because he and Kame arrives at the hospital safely. He is glad to see that Kame is brave enough to overcome her fear. Now that they are already at the hospital, they need to find Nakamaru and Junno.

“Nakamaru and Taguchi are on duty but it’s almost their break time. I think both of you can wait at the lobby and I will tell them that they have guests.” One of the nurses says when Jin asks where he can meet Nakamaru and Taguchi.

“Okay. Thank you.” Jin says as he bows to that nurse.

Jin tells Kame what the nurse told him. She nods and then both of them sit in the waiting room.

Nakamaru and Taguchi come 20 minutes later.

“Hello!” Taguchi greets both of them. He seems as cheerful as when they first met him. While Nakamaru only nods his head to Jin and Kame’s direction.

Kame looks nervous. It’s Jin who explains the purpose of their visit, to dig deeper about Kame’s past.

Nakamaru and Taguchi look at each other. “Hmm.. Actually, we can’t find many important information because staff data is held by the head nurse and not everyone can access that freely.” Nakamaru explains.

“I also asked other nurses, but no one knew about her boyfriend. They are sure that she is not married yet.” Taguchi adds.

“One of the nurses told me that before Kame disappeared, she went for a check up because she felt unwell. This hospital still has her record but we can’t see that because it will violate patient’s privacy.” Nakamaru says.

“I think it would be better if Kame talk directly to the head nurse and ask for the data. We tried to ask but like Nakamaru said, it can’t be given to random people.” Taguchi suggests to Kame.

Kame looks at Jin, silently asking for his opinion about Taguchi’s suggestion.

“Yeah.. I think so too. Let’s go.” Jin offers his hand to Kame. “Take us to the room.”

“Sure.” Taguchi’s face brightens. “Let’s go.”

Jin, Kame, and Nakamaru follow his lead. On their way to the head nurse’s room, they passes nurse’s room. Several nurses who recognize Kame are surprised to see her. Some of them even hug Kame and tell her that they are glad to see Kame shows again and that she is fine.

Kame is overwhelmed by feelings because of the warm greetings she receives from them. But she can only smiles awkwardly because she can’t remember those nurses at all.

“Hey.. hey.. we’re in a hurry here!” Taguchi tells those nurses to stop hugging Kame.

“Yeah.. they have appointment with the head nurse.” Nakamaru says.

They continue to walk to the head nurse’s room. Jin notices that when they are leaving the nurses’ room, Kame looks back to that room again.

“What’s wrong? Do you remember something?” Jin asks her.

“No. It’s just feel weird. They’re so kind to me but I can’t remember anything about them.” Kame answers sadly.

“That’s okay. We come here to find about your past. Don’t be sad like that.” Jin comforts her.

Kame only nods as they continue walking. She hears Taguchi says that they almost reach the head nurse’s room.

“Please, have a seat.” A woman clad in typical nurse’s outfit tells Kame and Jin. Nakamaru and Taguchi already back to their work.

“Kamenashi.” The head nurse utters as she looks at Kame’s direction which gets no response from Kame who stays quiet in her seat.

“Is it true that you have lost memories like Taguchi and Nakamaru said?” She asks Kame.

Kame only nods at that.

The head nurse rises from her seat to take a folder from a file cabinet. She brings it to her table, Kame and Jin can see the name in front of the folder ‘Kamenashi Kazuya’. Then she read the content of the first page to them, full name, date of birth, education, her former address.

“My parents’ name? Their address?” Kame asks. “And siblings? Does that file mention about it?” She sounds curious.

“Unknown.” The head nurse simply answers.

“Unknown?” Now Jin also feeling curious.

The head nurse puts the file on the table before explaining, “She lived and grew up in an orphanage. She had been living in there since she was a baby. There is no information about her family.”

“Is there any info about her twin?” Jin asks again.

“There’s none. I guess it’s better to visit the orphanage.” The head nurse suggest. “We have sent all of her stuffs back to the orphanage. You will get more information from there.”

Hearing that, Kame heaves a deep sigh and looks at Jin’s direction.

“Thank you very much for you help.” Jin says.

“You’re welcome. It’s my pleasure to help you.” The head nurse replies and smiles to both of them.

After getting the address from the head nurse, Jin and Kame excuse themselves and walking out of the room. Taguchi and Nakamaru have gone back to their work so they go directly to the address given to them.

Jin look at the address on the piece of paper he’s holding and match it with the nameplate attach to the wall beside a gate. The building in front of them is the orphanage. The building may be old and not too big but it doesn’t look scary at all. From outside of the gate, Kame and Jin can see some kids are playing. Jin notices that the gate is unlocked, so he pushes it and let Kame in.

One of the kids yells when Jin closes the gate.

“Kazuya neechaaan!!”

Kame’s eyes widens in surprise seeing a small boy running to her direction. His yell makes another kids stop their activity and follow the first kid, running to Kame’s direction. Both Kame and Jin are too shocked by the kids. Especially Kame because those kids gathers around her and trying to hug her.

“Neechan where have you been?!” A small girl asks her with enthusiastic face.

“I miss neechan!!” Another small girl yells.

“Neechan carry me!” a small boy raising both of his arms, asking to be carried by Kame.

Kame is too puzzled and Jin also doesn’t know what to do because it’s too noisy and completely chaotic. Jin has never had an experience to handle many kids.

“Kazuya?!!” A startled voice comes in the midst of of kids voice.

Kame and Jin look at the source of that voice and find a petite woman rushing from the building to their direction.

“I.. I..” Kame is still too confused to react.

The woman tells the kids to release Kame and just go back to play. The kids of course trying to refuse by whining and keep calling Kame before they finally comply. One of the kids waves her small hand to Kame as she runs to the playground.

“Sorry, can we talk?” Jin asks when the kids already leave them.

“Follow me” The woman smiles so brightly as he looks at both Kame and Jin. “Please, come in.”

The woman lead them to an office. It’s only a small office with a small desk and two file cabinets. There are also a small sofa near the window and some drawings on the wall. Kame looks at that drawing and a small smile appears on her lips, these must be those kids drawings.

Jin is still observing the room when Kame decides to sit down on the sofa. 5 minutes later, another woman comes in to the office. She looks older than the first woman. Kame is about to stand up when she feels someone is hugging him so tightly.

“Where did you go?! What happened? Did you mad at me?” The woman throws so many questions at once after she releases Kame from her hug.

Kame doesn’t know how to respond.

“Uhmm.. sorry..” Jin turns the woman attention from Kame to him.

“Ah.. I’m sorry. Please, have a seat.” She invites Kame to sit beside her on the sofa while Jin drags a small chair near them.

When they have sit, the woman introduce herself as the head of this orphanage, Shimabukuro Misae. The kids usually call her ‘mother’.

“Oh.. Shimabukuro-san then, I’m Akanishi Jin.” He tells her. “And she is..”

“I know her. She is my beloved daughter, Kamenashi Kazuya.” She says before hugging Kame again.

Kame tries to release herself from her embrace. “I’m so sorry.. I..” She looks uncomfortable.

A flash of hurt can bee seen from Shimabukuro’s face. “Did I do something that makes you angry?” She asks worriedly.

“Sorry.. but I lost my memory.” Kame reveals.

Shimabukuro looks so shocked hearing that. She looks at Jin who nods in agreement. The woman still doesn’t quite believe of what she just heard. “How?” She sends an inquiring look to both Kame and Jin.

“It’s quite a long story.” Jin says before he begins to tell everything related to Kame’s condition to the head of orphanage, leaving the details about the rape incident.

Shimabukuro hugs Kame while crying after Jin finishes his story. “I’m so sorry for not being able to find you. You’ve suffered too much. I’m sorry.” She says between her sobs.

Kame feels bad for her, she knows it’s not her fault. She just lets her cry some more.

“We came her to find out her past. By doing that, we hope she can regain her memories back.” Jin explains.

Shimabukuro releases Kame from her hug. She wipes her tears away and turns her attention to Jin. “I will help you with everything you need.” She says.

“Thank you.” Kame feels grateful.

“No problem, my dear. For the time being, both of you can stay here. We still take care of Kazuya’s bedroom.” Shimabukuro offers. “Come, come, let me take you to the bedroom.” She invites both of them before walking toward the door, signaling Jin and Kame to follow her.

The room is located on the second floor of the building. “This is your bedroom.” Shimabukuro announces as she opens the door. She nods her head to the room direction to let Kame come in first.

Shimabukuro and Jin are standing by the door. They are looking at Kame who is busy checking the room with curious expression. It’s Shimabukuro who breaks the silence between her and Jin.

“Thank you for helping her to go through her suffering.” She opens the conversation.

“You don’t have to thank me for that. I’m doing all of this because I love her.” Jin says.

“And I have to thank you for that too.” Shimabukuro smiles hearing Jin’s confession.

Then Kame who’s checking something on the drawer turns her head to Shimabukuro’s direction and asks, “Does Kamenashi Kazuya have a twin?”

“No. She’s alone. Her parents died in an accident. The police sent her here, then she’s been living and grew up here ever since that day.” Shimabukuro walks inside the room and sits on the corner of the bed, patting the empty space beside her to invite Kame to sit.

“She’s very kind. She gives half of her salary to this orphanage. When she’s not at work, she helps taking care of the kids.” She smiles at Kame who’s now sitting down beside her.

“Even though she got a job, she doesn’t want to move from this orphanage. She still wants to live here and helping us.” Shimabukuro continues as she rubs Kame’s back lovingly.

“Does Kamenashi Kazuya have a boyfriend?” Kame asks again.

“Kazuya is a very private person and it’s very difficult for her to talk about her private problem.” That’s the only answer Shimabukuro gives to Kame’s question. “Right, I think it’s better for both of you to have a rest for a while.” She says to Jin and Kame before getting up to leave the room.

Jin closes the door and walks to sit beside Kame when the head of orphanage already out of the bedroom. They sit side by side in silence. No one seem wanting to utter a word to break the silence until Kame gets up and walks to the small desk. There are stuffs from the hospital. She spots a name tag with Kamenashi Kazuya name and photo.

Then Kame starts to take out all of things from the drawer, wardrobe, shelf, etc. She takes out everything and creates piles of mess in the room. Jin doesn’t stop her, he let her do what she wants. He only observing her from where he sits on the bed.

After an hour creating a mess, they finally find everything they need to know about Kamenashi Kazuya. Kamenashi Kazuya’s school, university, job, photos of her small self, teenager, even until adult are scattered on the bed. But there’s still no info about her boyfriend.

“So.. I am really Kamenashi Kazuya..” Kame mumbles and she stops taking out things because there’s nothing left.

Jin starts tidying up when he sees Kame sits on the bed observing the photos. He is about to fold the clothes when he finds a folder. Feeling curious, he opens it. It contains a result of a laboratorium test under Kamenashi Kazuya name. Jin’s eyes widens in surprise when he realizes that the document states about Kame’s pregnancy.

“Kame..” Jin walks closer to Kame.

He shows it to Kame and that is when the realization dawn to them. The test date, the fact that Kamenashi Kazuya was pregnant, the date when Kame was found, Kame’s miscarriage, it’s all make sense. Everything fits like piece of puzzle.

Jin still needs a time to register everything to his brain when he sees Kame runs to the bathroom and slams the door followed by a sound of her cries. Jin takes a deep breath and he gets up from the bed. He walks to the bathroom, trying to open the door to find that Kame has locked from inside. He tries to knock but Kame doesn’t open it.

-----

“Itadakimaaaaasu.” The kids shout it before they start eating.

Jin and Kame are joining them on the table to have dinner. But Kame doesn’t eat her food. She only stays quiet and let the food being untouched. It doesn’t go unnoticed by everyone on the table. The kids start asking her why she doesn’t eat her food. They also offer her their food.

“Kazuya oneechan, why don’t you eat the food?” One of the little girls asks.

“Is Kazuya oneechan sick?” Another concerned voice can be heard from a small boy in front of her.

“Kazuya oneechan, do you want my meatball?” another small girl who sits beside Kame offers her food. “Here, I’ll give it to you.” She puts meatball on Kame’s plate.

“Oneechan always says that, if we don’t eat, we won’t get bigger.” That small girl continues. “Kazuya oneechan, come on, eat, eat.” The small girl starts to look impatient.

“If oneechan doesn’t eat, I don’t want to eat this too.” She threatens, pushing her small plate away from her.

Seeing that, Jin decides to persuade Kame too. “Kazuya, you have to eat. Don’t make those kids sad and disappointed.” Following how the kids call her, for Jin she is now Kazuya too, not Kame anymore.

Aware that she has made them worried, she smiles to them and starts eating her food. But she stops eating after only a few spoon-full of food. She immediately goes to the bathroom with a hand covering her mouth, leaving everyone on the table confused. Jin excuses himself and follows Kame immediately.

Jin see Kazuya throwing up in the bathroom. He approaches her and he rubs her back. He begins to feel worried because this morning and yesterday, Kazuya also threw up.

When she finally stops, Jin helps cleaning her mouth. He suggests to take her to the hospital but she refuses.

“I’m fine. I will just go back to the bedroom and have a rest.” Kazuya says with a weak smile.

“But Kazuya..” Jin doesn’t believe her when she says she is okay.

“I’m okay, Jin. Really. Could you help me to go to the bedroom?” She asks Jin to accompany her because she is feeling drowsy.

Jin complies. He hopes that Kazuya will really get better tomorrow.

But it turns out, Kazuya throws up again the next morning. She also looks weak and pale because she refuses to eat. Jin can’t take it anymore, he brings Kazuya to the hospital after that. She’s whining and keeps telling him that she’s okay. However, she doesn’t have much energy to refuse. She just let Jin taking her to the hospital.

At the hospital, Jin and Kazuya are sitting at the lobby waiting for the result of her medical check. Kazuya is too tired she falls asleep on Jin’s shoulder.

Jin sees someone approaching them.

“Hey..” Nakamaru greets Jin who only nods his head. “What’s wrong with her?” Nakamaru asks as he sits beside Jin.

“I’m not sure. We’re still waiting for the result.” Jin says. “I’m afraid that she’s so stressed and can’t accept her past. I also think that she still doesn’t accept that she is Kamenashi Kazuya.”

“It could be that.. Or maybe she’s just exhausted because there is so many things happen in one day. She is in depression, even a small thing can make her feel dejected.” Nakamaru says as he takes a look at Kazuya’s sleeping face. She looks so peaceful sleeping on Jin’s shoulder like that.

“Yeah.. I hope she’s fine and it’s just the cause of the exhaustion.” Jin still looks rather worried.

After that they falls into a silence. A few minutes after, Taguchi is walking toward them, bringing a folder contains of Kazuya’s medical check result. “So, how is it?” Jin asks immediately, seemingly impatient to know the result.

Taguchi smiles brightly. “She’s okay. No need to worry. Let the doctor explain it to you.” He says, signaling Jin to wake her up.

“Kazuya.. Wake up,” Jin tries to wake her up with a gentle voice.

It seems that Kazuya doesn’t want to wake up because Jin needs to call her again and shakes her body gently until she opens her eyes. But she only rubs her eyes lazily and looks like she prefers to just go back to sleep rather than waking up.

“Kazuya, come on.” Jin understands that Kazuya is tired but they have to meet the doctor to know about the result. “You can continue sleeping after we get back, okay? Your body will hurt if you sleep here.” he persuades her.

Kazuya finally wakes up with a pout on her lips, she is still sleepy and Jin is so noisy. Taguchi can only smiles seeing how she leans her body to Jin for support when they’re walking, because she’s still sleepy.

Inside the doctor’s room, Jin and Kazuya are invited to sit while Taguchi only gives the folder to the doctor and then excuses himself to leave.

The doctor opens the folder and he starts reading the file. Not too long after that, the doctor look up to Jin and Kazuya. “Congratulations to both of you. Ms. Kamenashi is four weeks pregnant.” He says with a smile.

“Eh?!!” Jin and Kazuya can’t believe what they have just heard.

“The result tells that she’s pregnant.” The doctor repeats the good news to them. He also tells them the possibility of morning sickness and gives some advice to Kazuya and Jin like preventing Kazuya from too much stress, to make sure that she eats good food, drink much water, and other useful advices.

After giving enough advices for both them, the doctor tells them to go home and let Kazuya to have some rest since she looks so tired. The doctor also tells Kazuya to eat even though she doesn’t feel like eat because the baby needs nutrition.

Thanking the doctor for his advices, Jin and Kazuya heads out of the room holding each other hand with smiles plastered on their face.

-----

Later that night in Kazuya’s bedroom, the light is already switched off but Jin and Kazuya still talking to each other. Jin caresses Kazuya’s belly, grinning happily like a kid. Only thinking about the baby, their baby, makes him feeling utterly happy.

However, Jin remembers about something that they need to talk. “Kazuya..” He calls her name, hand still caressing Kazuya’s belly.

“Hmm..” Kazuya hums.

“About Ryo..” Jin starts carefully, not wanting to freak her out.

“Jin, please..” Kazuya tries to avoid the topic.

“No. We have to talk about this.” Jin states as he leans his body on the headboard and switch on the bedside lamp. The change of position makes Kazuya snuggles closer to Jin’s body.

“I’ve been thinking about this. You, Kamenashi Kazuya, were not married and have no child.” Jin carries on. “So, would you please.. forget about that guy and start a new family with me?” He takes a deep breath.

“Would you please marry me?” He emphasizes his intention. He hopes that by proposing her, Kazuya will trust him completely that he will never leave her.

Kazuya doesn’t answer right away. It makes Jin feeling strangely nervous. What if she refuse and decides to look for Ryo? But before another bad thought appears on his mind, he feels she hugs him.

“Thank you Jin, thank you so much.” Kazuya says between her sobs. She still can’t believe that Jin asks her to marry him. And when it finally registers on her mind that Jin really ask her to marry him, Kazuya can’t help but crying before hugging Jin so tightly.

“So.. it means..?” Jin wants to make sure.

“Yes.” Kazuya answers as she keeps hugging Jin.

Jin can sense a wave of relief wash over him after he hears Kazuya’s answer. He kisses Kazuya’s forehead and says, “Thank you, Kazuya.”

“No, thank you, Jin.” Kazuya feels like the happiest woman in the world. “It’s me who have to say thank you.”

“Sorry that I proposed to you without giving you any ring. But I will buy it for sure.” Jin promises to her.

Kazuya can’t help but chuckles. Jin is too nice for his own good. “No, it’s okay, Jin. It’s okay.” She reassures him.
