So, I've been somewhat busy lately. Work is great except for the new ERP system, that goes live on Monday. We've had countless hours of training, identifying glitches, requesting changes. I understand needing to improve systems, but this one, I really don't like. Why couldn't they just choose ACCPAC? It's much easier than this one. They have chosen Navision. Which I may add, is a Microsoft product. And true to form, alot of glitches. Monday when we go live, it is only Phase one, and we have a month of it live to see if we can improve on anything else before it goes into Phase 2. I personnaly think this is taking way too much time for a pre made ERP system. Had they developed their own, I would understand. But, regardless of that, I still love my company. Still waiting to hear if they'll pay for my schooling, but come May if I haven't heard anything, I'll just pay it myself.
In other news, last week I picked myself up the Driving Manual. I have an appointment on the 2nd of May to take my learner's test. I'm not horribly anxious and nervous, because I have taken one in the past, although that was when I was 14. And in Alberta. Sometimes I think this is more hassle than what it is worth, but then I think, I could go apple picking and to the cabane a sucre without having to rely on anyone. We could go to Vermont for a weekend, and not the whole week to make it worth our while.
I'm still suffering from craft ADD. I have many projects on the go (although I have finally completed 2), and I want to start more. I haven't as of yet, trying to occupy my time with the several projects I already have on the go. The 3 main ones I'm working on now are the Shetland Tea Shawl from A Gathering of Lace, Gull Wing socks from Socks, Socks, Socks, and the afghan. In the case of the socks, and afghan, I am over halfway done. The afghan is for when I get tired. I don't have to concentrate, and the crocheting goes really quick. I've been working on the sock on the bus every morning, but it is taking a while, because I had to choose a lace sock pattern. So for my senile self, I can only do 1 repeat of the lace pattern, because there isn't enough time to do 2, and if I start the second, I will forget my place. Now the shawl. This is my pride and joy. This is the 3rd time Istarted it, because I lost my place twice before. So, I am being extra careful this time. I am working with laceweight, which is almost like just using thread. It is a weird sensation, but really nice at the same time. It is very delicate, which makes me feel really rather delicate, as opposed to clunky, which is how I normally feel. To quote the excerpt in the book - "This shawl is made with Elizabeth Zimmermann's Pi Shawl shaping...It's Pi; the geometry of the circle hinging on the mysterious relationship of the circumference of a circle to its radius. A circle will double its circumference in infinitely themselves-doubling distances, or in knitters' terms, the distance between the increase-rounds..." I started by casting on 9 stitches. I am presently at 290. It is suppose to go to 574, as far as I can tell. And the neat thing about this, is because of where the yarnovers are, it does expand even though the stitches don't increase at certain points. I will definitely love seeing this completed. All 60" (diameter) of it...I never choose something moderately easy. Sucker for punishment.
But I'm sure you all needed to hear that. Now to figure out what to do today...
