2008 Olympics

All of my life aside I wanted to just lay out some "political things" for once. I recently found out that Arashi's Sakurai Sho is going to be main newscaster for his news station during the Olympics this summer and then some people were talking about how they are boycotting the Olympics because of China's abuse to human rights in Tibet and connections with Dafur... now this really made me think...

Then I was reading an article where Sen. Clinton was saying that Bush should boycott the opening ceremonies to show that we disaaprove of China and what they are doing... now I suppose I can see where this makes sense.. a non-violent protest to prove a point.. however.... the Olympic games are not meant to be political, it is about athletes all around the world coming together to compete. Also... as I read some research I found out that this big bad China that Hilary Clinton wants to boycott now was made the "US's Most Favored Trade" country by her husband.... funny how that works... so basically he helped in making us be so incredibly dependent on China... and she talks about how our economy sucks.. .but wouldn't hurting our relations with China damage our economy since we depend on each other so much?

Now I don't know all the facts on how China is abusing human rights but for starters.. I'm sure all the sweatshops where all the stuff we use (including people who want to boycott the Olympics that is something way beyond just China) are a huge abuse on human rights... as is any aid in genocide in Dafur and etc but I dunno.. I just feel that right now making more enemies, jeopordizing our economy, and using the Olympics as our politcal soapbox and taking attention away from the real purpose is just... eh... silly..
