Wet and wondering

Raindrops.
Descending all around us.
One terminal moment.
One final dance.
I was trying
not to remark
that I could perceive our fire
expiring.
This is my last accommodation to you.
These are my final expressions to you.
But even after these verses
fade to grey,
we’ll forever have that one final dance
in the rain.
Raindrops subtly withdrawing
I suffered a distant emotion
that the rainbow’s vows
weren’t meant for me.
What was that rainbow trying to say?
Because the world ended for me
No one to embrace.
No pot of gold.
No more dancing
in the rain.
Things will never be the same.
Raindrops on a window
have a way to make me ponder
about apples,
daybeds,
and black velvet blankets
all of these lost
and abandoned objects.
I was wet and wondering,
will we ever dance again?
Dancing in the rain.
Things would never be the same.
