So I go to the phone store with the shiny new phone I got at christmas and I say, I need to activate international roaming.
Huh they say.
I am roaming internationally, I explain. Vacation. Cell phone. yes?
But, they say, your phone does not do that.
I asked your salesperson specifically when I got the phone and they said it would.
I'm sorry, but your phone does not do that.
We offer a rental service. For vacations. Call here!
So I call them.
Global services! they respond.
Vacation. Cell phone?
Why yes! Let us get your information. Your credit card. Your account. oh. Sorry. No.
Why not?
You do not have sufficient level of service to participate in this program. Allow us to refer you to a third party vendor.
But all is not lost because I have an old phone which has quad band, which is what you need (or so I have been told). I plug it in and charge it up and turn it on.
Unregistered SIM, it tells me.
And people wonder why I dislike cell phones.
now I have to pack two! Also, cannot find my plug converter.
Such a nuisance!
