Last night I made soup for Julian, he waited a little bit before he ate and when he stuck his spoon in, he cried out, "Ewwww! Mommy, come and see this! You have to see it, it's gross!" I was nursing Serenity, so I couldn't run in to see what was wrong and asked him to tell me, thinking it must be a bug or something. His response? "It has Granny lines!" "Granny lines?" I asked, quite puzzled and then I thought about it for a few seconds and realized that the soup must have developed a skin while he was waiting to eat it or while it was cooking. He said, "Yah, when I stuck my spoon it, it had Granny lines. That's gross." He ate it anyway.
Serenity is learning to stand her ground with other little kids. She is very good about sharing, but keeps discovering other little girls who are not. We have a neighbor who has a little girl about four months older, and a friend who has a little one who is eight months older. Serenity had an opportunity to play with each of them this week. They are both more mobile than she is, and quite determined to get their own way. Serenity is a bit baffled by their behavior, but manages to stand her own grown or be oblivious when she needs to be. I think that she will be just fine once she is walking full time.
I heard three or four times yesterday that people thought she was little for a year. Interesting, I guess we will see where she is on the charts when she goes in for her one year appointment on the 10th.
