I sometimes hear it suggested that when a child is old enough to lift her Mommy's shirt to get her own milk, then she is too old to nurse. At nine months, my baby girl who just today showed me she can lift my shirt, is not too old to nurse. It is good that this is a personal decision that each mother can make with her child.
Serenity is not yet interested in doing much more than licking table foods. Without breast milk, she would wither away, just wither away (see the hand on my forehead).
