Title: never knew patience is my virtue
Pairing: Kyuhyun/Sooyoung
Rating: G
Genre: Fluff

On times like these, Kyuhyun wishes his eyes could work like that of a camera. Zoom in closer. Move a bit to the left. Focus, focus, aaaand take a snap of that smile. Perfect.

Unfortunately, it remains as it were; two huge balls of tissues, nerves, and god-knows-what, completely incapable of capturing scenes any better than that shabby camera the cheapskate Hyukjae bought at a second-hand store during their debut days - and that's saying something.

Hence, for five minutes or so, he contents himself watching Choi Sooyoung, the subject of his metaphorical photo shoot, whiz across the room.

What he hates most about SM activities is how there are too many fucking people cramped in one place it's impossible to spot anybody unless they're wearing neon-colored tutus, or something relatively closer to what Key would call his ideal party animal outfit. In this case, the SM Town photoshoot is a palette of pink, black, and white, and the constant moving and shoving and running and random dancing is giving him headaches. It took him a while to spot her among the throngs of people, yes her height helped a bit but still, and he concludes it is not much of a bother to exert additional effort in craning his neck three inches more just to keep her in his line-of-sight.

Two hours, five minutes, and forty-four seconds after the actual photoshoot, he chances upon her on a corner; bickering playfully, he notes bitterly, with Sungmin. Kyuhyun casually inserts himself into the conversation, dragging a clueless Sunny standing idly on a corner as a formidable excuse of his intrusion, and waltzes away into oblivion when Sooyoung throws him a blinding smile.

He forgets everything else, mouth working on five hundred sixty five words a minute; one second talking about the temperature, the next blurting out his overdue confession in national television, subtly blanketed in a teasing tone and carefully-chosen words his panicking brain has supplied him the last minute.

The manager arrives in time and demands him to return to the makeshift stage. Forty-five minutes more of agony disguised as blazing camera lights and gummy smiles passed by before he is allowed to rest. Cover blown and pride hanging helplessly on its hinges, Kyuhyun decides its a now-or-never situation. He scrambles inside his pocket for his then-useless phone, scrolls on the list of Favorited contacts, and sends a message to a number long saved but never contacted to.

'hi pretty :)'

Kyuhyun tries to act cool, whistling and checking his utterly boring wristwatch, as he silently argues with the voices in his head, persuading them that he did nothing remotely embarrassing, only to fail miserably as he all too excitedly reaches for his phone on its first beep.

'these SMS exchanges will not grant you extra camera time, you know.'

He tries not to look, he really did, but his eyes already made its way on the corner of the room to where she is standing. Sooyoung is talking to her manager, he breathes in a sigh of relief upon noticing, and yet still manages to look like a mesmerizing nymph against that bland white stretch of a wall. He types in a reply.

'but i'm serious. ^^'

Two maintenance boys carrying a huge-ass sheet of styro marched in the middle of the room, strategically preventing him to see her reaction as she reads his message.

'took you long enough to notice?'
'my eyesight sucks. -.-'
'looks like it.'

Apparently, the huge-ass sheet of styro is supposed to remain in the middle of room, Kyuhyun realizes, as the two maintenance boys disappeared out of sight and everybody else went on their usual activity as if a solid impediment being dragged out of nowhere and dumped in the middle of a busy studio is something ordinary.

'do you accept coffee as an apology? ~.~'

The reply arrives faster than he expects.

'i don't drink coffee'
'soda? milk? chocolate? :D'

Kyuhyun feels like cutting down on all the stupid emoticons but his fingers won't cooperate. The phone beeps again.

'your eyes remind me of hot chocolate my mom used to make me for christmas eve :)'

He bites his lips upon reading the reply, a futile attempt to stop the shit-eating grin dangerously spreading on his face at the moment.

'is that a yes?'

He clumsily types in his excitement, too busy to notice someone striding towards his direction, and lets out a panicked yelp when pink-tinged talons pried away the phone from his hands.

"S-sooyoung!" he gulps loudly like a mediocre college senior caught cheating on his final major exam.

She smiles slyly, as if telling him that she holds the upper hand, and teasingly replies.

"I'm not paying."

He doesn't argue.

A/N: wow, kyuyoung what are you doing to me? :)))
