Make new friends but keep the old...
Papa was sent into the rehabilitation unit yesterday so mom decided to come home early.He will be going through physical therapy to regain the ability to walk,better speech,strength in his upper body,etc. I bought a card to send to Nana and Papa to let them know (even though I've talked to Nana on the phone) that I am thinking about them.
I got to see one of my friends from way back today...
[BACKGROUND] We went to RRMS (middle school) together and picked on each other constantly...did NOT like each other and he lived next door to my best friend Carolyn.Three years had passed and weaccidently met at the Buchanan carnival,he was completely different and ADORABLE! I kept seeing him all night and wanted to talk to him so bad.I told my friend Joey and he ended up hooking us up.We parted ways but remained friends.We hadn't talked for a while and sometime last year Joey told me that he had fallen off of a roof while laying shingles and was paralized form the waist down and couldn't use his right arm.I was stunned,I cried for a quite a while.I tried to call every ROanoke hospital to visit him with no luck.By the time I got in contact with Joey and found out what hospital he was in,he had already been released.He was ashamed to let anyone see his in the condition he was in.He was in a wheelchair and couldn't do hardly anything by himself so he didn't want company.I talked to him a couple times and told him that I wanted to visit and that when he was ready for company to give me a call.
[FASTFORWARD TO TODAY] I was sitting on the bench outside Applebees waiting for the other people from work to get there.When I first got there and went inside to see if anyone had arrived yet,I saw out of the corner of my eye a lady folding a wheelchair up and putting it in her car but payed no attention to the people.When I went back outside and sat down I heard someone say my name and looked over to the same car.I couldn't recognize the face because he was reclined and distant.He motioned for me to walk over there and as I neared the car I could see that it was Colter.*big smile* I told him that I can't see far away and couldn't tell who he was from where I was sitting,he said he didn't think I would recognize him upclose.There's no way I would forget him.I noticed but tried not to pay any attention to the braces on both his arms (which he can use now :) ).We chatted and I asked how he was doing,keeping a smile on my face for optomism the whole time.I didn't want him to think anything had changed or his disability had fogged the way I looked at him (because I know he did when the accident first happened and didn't want to see anyone).He said "Well I just thought I would say hey." and we parted ways.It was so nice to see him and I was so happy that he got my attention to say hi.I really wish we could have talked longer and I regret not telling him to call me sometime :( He is such a great person.I'll try to call his house sometime.
Anyway I thought that was an interesting twist on the day...
So I did a little shopping before I met everyone to eat.When Selena got to Applebees she had a migrane and was on 100mg of some strong migrane medicine that she went to the doctor for earlier today.Her mom had to drive her because she couldn't and she was going to have to come back out from Vinton to 'Noke mall area to pick her up.I told her there's was no reason for her mom to do that when I could easily take her home because her house is on the way to mine.Well there was me,Selena,Karen,Cheryl and her son,Logan,Sheila and her husband Muhamad.After dinner,Selena,Cheryl & Logan,and Karen decided to go to the mall for the last hour it was open.Logan got to jump around in the blow up bouncey room they had for some promotional thing and I found a cute new jean skirt.Then I took Selena home and arrived at my house about ten minutes before Joe came over.
Tomorrow after work I am going to Red Light Syndrome's (the band Joe is in,further refered to as RLS)practice with Liz and then dinner and a movie with Joe.I'm excitede to go to RLS practice because I haven't seen Pez (drums) more than once after Prom,same with his really cool friend whose name I always forget...anyway she's really cool.I have only met Tyler (guitarist) once,and have never met his girlfriend Jude or the new vocalist they have.
Anyway,I'm getting sleepy so I think I'll watch a little TV and then call it a night.
