9th Doctor Fanfic Recommendations

I'll be adding lots more to this entry (like a bunch more 9/Rose stories) but I just wanted to get something up in the meantime.

Gen
FATHER CHRISTMAS by icebluenothing (9, Rose) - G - How did the Doctor know about that bike anyway? Takes a throwaway line from Father's Day and creates a wonderful little story.

PARCHED by dameruth (9, Rose, Jack) - PG-13 - The gang assist the terraforming efforts of a failing colony world. Nice characterization, a bit of angst, and a bit of healing for the Doctor with the help of some good friends.

IVORY AND HORN by taraljc (9, Rose) - PG - A trip down the Doctor's memory lane, only once there he's not sure he wants to leave. Rose has to convince him, or they'll both be trapped-- and dead. I debated whether to put this under 9/Rose or Gen, but it's about the same level of shippiness as the series so under Gen it goes.

SOMETHING LIKE MOEBIUS by doyle-sb4 (9, Rose, Jack) - G - Delightful story in which Jack, Rose and the Doctor have to save an eleven-year-old Jack from his possessed-alien-teacher.

9/Rose
UNREQUITED by rabid1st (9/Rose, Jack) - R at least - According to the author this is crack!fic, and it probably is, in that it has one of the crackiest, hysterically funny lines I've ever read in a Who fic. But it's more than mere crack in that there is a plot and wonderful storytelling details, from the description of a dead woman's kitchen decor, to having to perform emergency first aid on Jack, not to mention the Doctor's No Good Very Bad Day, that at finally ends on a high note.

9/Jack
BATHTUBS AND BANANAS by boji (9/Jack) - R - I love stories that pick up right after Jack first arrives aboard the TARDIS. Boji has a great take on Jack's voice, one that gives you the sense of not only a brash man of the world (so to speak) but a deep and dangerous man-- but he's more than met his match in the Doctor. Despite the dangerous undercurrent, there's something almost sweet here between the two of them.

WHISPER by wendymr (9/Jack) - PG-13 - Sparks fly as Jack and the Doctor face off and come to an understanding immediately following The Doctor Dances. Excellent 9 and Jack characterization, told from the Doctor's POV.

Jack/Rose
ACTS OF NECESSITY by aeshna-uk (Jack/Rose, 9th Doctor) - NC-17 - Pretty much a hurt/comfort type of sex story, but really impressive for the excellent characterization of all the principles. Even though the Doctor doesn't get any horizontal action, I loved the characterization of him in this story, where driven by his inner demons, he can't help but hurt those around him.

FUZZY by wired_lizard (Jack/Rose, 9) - NC-17 - A really original take on the whole topic of telepathy, as Jack teaches Rose something new about herself. This story is supposed to be a prequel for 9/Rose/Jack (the author had a sequel in mind but hasn't written it). It stands well on it's own, though.

9/Other
ORPHANS by calapine (9/Nyssa) - PG-13 - Nyssa was a companion of the 5th Doctor and left in the episode Terminus, where she decided to stay on to help try to find a cure for Lazur's Disease (Terminus is the equivalent of a leper colony). Lost and at loose ends following the Time War, the Doctor visits Nyssa to help, but Nyssa knows it's the worst place for him.

Crossover
MOMENTS OF REVELATION by handful-of-sky (8, 9, 10, River Tam - Firefly Crossover) - PG - River Tam is a difficult character to write well, and this story is from River's point of view. The author here succeeds splendidly with a post-Miranda River reaching out to a traumatized 9th Doctor, fresh from the Time War, in her own inimitable and uncompromising fashion, which is exactly what the Doctor needs.
