With the exception of what seems like the strongest of us on the continent, everyone in Tellius was turned to stone. Yes, you heard me right. No, I'm not making this up.

It's the Goddess Ashera's doing. Her judgement on us all, apparently.

That is very difficult to believe.

Why in the world would Ashera do such a thing?

Ha, well, I didn't really expect you of all people to believe me.

I know why, but I won't lie to you, and it's probably not something you'll want to hear from me. Regardless, if you need to know, I will tell you.

All right. I should start by asking… have remembered anything about something called Lehran's Medallion?

No.

Well, it's important, and it's important to you. A long time ago the Dragon King told us that a dark god had been sealed inside the medallion. He said that if all of Tellius was ever engulfed in war, the seal would break an the dark god would proceed to raise hell on the continent.

It can be released another way, though. Altina's direct decedent can free the dark god by singing the galdr of release.

Perhaps you've remembered who Altina is.

She was the ancient Beorc hero who helped end a conflict which had engulfed the entire world. She was also the first Empress of Begnion.

In other words, my ancestor.

However, how does this relate to Ashera supposedly punishing the world?

The two are linked. The seal was made so that when the so-called dark god was released, Ashera would also wake from her rest. Because of the war, the dark god was going to be released anyway, so we freed it with the galdr instead. When she awoke, Ashera wasn't pleased with the fighting we'd been doing, so she brought down her judgement, petrifying everyone.

The prickly part about this is that it wasn't you who could sing the galdr. It was someone else.

The warring does coincide with my memory of the time period.

However...

I am the sole living descendant of Altina. I have no living family members. If I were incapable of singing the Galdr, then who could possibly possess the ability?

There's a girl with silver hair who lives here on the island, also from our world. I've only talked to her a few times. I don't think she's been around long.

She's the one who could sing it.

I see.

Thank you for the information, King Tibarn.
