Spring is right around the corner, and our list for household repairs is long and long. Despite our temperate weather, we generally wait until mid-March or even April before we roll up our sleeves and tackle some of the bigger household repairs. This year, we're replacing the pool filter (which includes pouring a new concrete slab for the longer equipment), finally finishing the deck replacement, and I'm getting a new dishwasher!
The dishwasher has been broken for awhile, but I'll confess, I was willing to put of buying a new one so I could go to England with UberGeek. It was so worth the dishpan hands. We've been browsing for something new, and the current debate in our house is white (which matches every other appliance in the kitchen), or succumb to the stainless steel trend. I've never liked the stainless steel appliances because I think they change the hearth-like welcome of a kitchen to something more sterile and lab-like. The majority of my friends have embraced stainless (easier to clean, I'm told), but I just can't quite get over my dislike.
With all that being said, I will return my thoughts to our outdoors. We've had to acknowledge that one of our trees has to come down. It's a large, shady carrotwood tree, but the roots are damaging the wall between our home and our neighbors' and encroaching on their garage. I hate having to cut down a tree, and we hope like anything that we can save the other carrotwood in the back yard. It's far enough from the wall (we hope!)
In other news, I'm mucking about with a couple of stories. Hopefully one or two will see the light of day here.
