So I couldn't sleep again. I hope this doesn't become habit forming. It's just that being here gives me a lot of time to think and sometimes it's hard getting my braint to shut the hell up. Poetry seems to help with that so here's the latest. Please comment, I'd love some feedback, good or bad.
Behind Closed Eyes
When eyes close
visions betray
and foresight flickers.
I see deep chimes
tinkling in time to
small fingers and wide pupils.
I see golden moon light
brimming in a gentle tear,
sending ripples that spring into fountains.
I see quiet lullabies
hanging frozen in
rafters above,
dripping down sleep
like careful footsteps.
I see laugh lines
and kisses so honest
they burn for days
on candle wicks
that flicker with strength.
I see imaginary friends
waving from faded
photos, crooked with care.
I see wispy hair
and cradled hands
which easily caress
creased foreheads smooth.
I see dreams dancing
silently around innocent
toes that peep from under quilts.
I see night-lights
and painted flowers
caught in mid-bloom forever.
Every time eyes close
tiny stars tiptoe to your side
to keep you warm
until I find
the missing seconds of tomorrow.
