Everything will go very well. Doctors have to remove cysts all the time. I wouldn't worry about the ovary until you're there, otherwise you'll be a wreck and the best way to enter into surgery is be as calm as possible. And I don't think there will be a scar... I mean, you can hardly tell when a woman has had a c-section now, there's just a teeny scar line. You're in my thoughts, and just remember: we women are built tough and in the event of one ovary getting sick (or removed) our bodies are designed to have the other one take over.
Thanks! After I wrote this (it's been a few days now), I realized how selfish I was being with the whole thing. I mean many women live happy, productive lives with a missing ovary. I'll still be able to do EVERYTHING I could before the surgery. As I was saying to Matt last night, "I guess that's why God gave us two ovaries...and two testicles, right?"
As of right now, I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate in the famine. So, I'm holding on to your check (thanks, by the way - I just haven't had time to send you a nice, handwritten card) until I find out when my surgery is. If it's too close to the famine (probably - I imagine they are looking to get this done before my next period), I'll have to back out. Then I'll send the check back to you. I wouldn't feel right giving your money to a cause that you sponsored ME for.
But thanks again for your kind thoughts and advice. I'm still really grossed-out/fascinated by the whole "it's the size of a six-month pregnancy" thing. *Shudder*
Well, at least perhaps you know what being six months pregnant sort of feels? Or something? Maybe this means that pregnancy will be a walk in the park for you, because fairs fair, you know? It is really disgusting, however. Don't worry about the famine (boy does that sound weird out of context), if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen. I would appreciate the check... most of my money goes to the Lupus Foundation except in cases such as this where it's fun to sponsor people.
It's a scary thing, surgery. Especially when it's messing with some of the more important parts. So I can totally understand the various stages of freak out you are going through. Keep me updated.
