party elves

My party went great! 15 people came. It was all sorts of different friends too, a lot of people who didn’t know each other. I like that because it makes things more interesting and doesn’t leave one or two people feeling totally out of the loop.

I actually bought real food, the first time I’ve ever really tried to ‘cater’ a party. It was worth it, a lot of people commented on how much they enjoyed the good snacks. I would do it again. And the amount of money I spent was about equal to my Legislature cheque, which I’d just received, so I jokingly told everyone that in a way, the party was sponsored by Ed Stelmach.

Jay and Robbie slept over and when I got up, I discovered they’d tidied up the living and dining room before they left! Isn’t that just incredible? It was so sweet of them. That was 15 people’s worth of chairs and cups and garbage. I was in complete awe. Still am. They are my party house elves.

It's really nice to have Robbie back at things again, he's always a really sweet, fun presence. And I had a few new friends there that I'm just getting to know, plus some guests that I got to meet for the first time.

Styx really, really liked Jaime which was weird because he’s been cowering from everyone since he started losing his sight. He won’t even go near Chris anymore. But he was on his hind legs trying to get at her and he’d never met her before. It was quite odd.

And we invented a game called Drinking Roulette.

So yeah, my friends are cool and I like them. It’s really worth doing these sorts of things on occasion, just to have that visible reminder of how many people enjoy hanging out with you. My friends are awesome.
