I needed that after watching The Wrestler which no one warned me was ridiculously sad. I finished it sobbing, just like I did with King Of California yesterday. Two Evan Rachel Wood as daughter-of-a-shitty-dad tearjerkers. Thanks indie Hollywood!
Both are good movies, by the way. Both also showcase Evan’s talents and for once without her being an evil or frustrating character. There’s not much of her in The Wrestler (but she’s a lesbian!) but she’s almost the focus of King of California. So that was worth it. It was a sweet movie, but a bit too whimsical. And Wrsteler was just kind of harsh, but good.
