It's soapbox time..

I decided that I wanted to write a response to Adam's last journal post (before the one talking about Andrea and his job) where he said "i'm sick of seeing people that are trying to become activists and "fight for what they believe in" when they have not experienced life and things that should make them want to fight ( Read more... )

these people happened to get pregnant, don't you think that would have helped them form an opinion about abortion?
Wow....there is soooooo much I could say on that topic, and I really do know what I am talking about....but I'd rather not start a war. I do want to say, though, that of all women raped, 1% of them have become pregnant. This is due to the fact that during the incident, the body goes into shock, therfore rejecting any "intrusions." So very, very few girls would have that particular life experience.

Regardless of that fact, the point I'm trying to make is that some young women have been through this experience or had a teenage pregnancy due to faults of thier own. But being in that situation would still give you a stance on abortion. If you were to get pregnant and had ultimatly decided to keep the baby (due to personal/spirtitual beliefs...whatever) that may make up your mind about being pro-life. Perhaps you kept the baby but were glad that there was an other option out there or you went through with the abortion. These situations and circumstances still give you an opinion on the subject. Which is what I was trying to convey.

Through these examples I didn't want to spark debate on the moral/political issues of anything I mentioned. I was simply using these things to get the point across that things DO happen to you during your youth that would influence you to want to fight for certain causes.

If you don't know what you are talking about then don't say anything at all.

You have never been in that kind of situation so you don't know how you'd feel at that moment about any of the options.

I do know what I am talking about. I do know exactly how I feel about these options. Maybe I have not been in the situation myself, but I know of several people who have, and some of these people have been very close to me. I have also done a LOT of resaerch on that type of thing, several times. So don't tell me I don't know what I am talking about, Blake Mundy, because I do. Otherwise, I would have taken that advice and remained silent. Just because you think you know everything doesn't mean everyone else knows nothing. You are not the only intelligent, experienced, or cognitively capable person to walk the earth.

Don't use my full name and talk to me like a child. Knowing second hand and reading statistics about it doesn't come close to actually experiencing the immense pressure of that decision regardless of the circumstances even if it was due to your own neglect. Until you are in that moment you have absolutly no idea how you would feel. I, as a male, will never ever be able to fully comprehend what is going through a girls mind in that situation which is why I support her RIGHT to choose whatever she feels is best for her.

In my previous comment I did not condescend nor did I say that I know everything. I don't know how to juggle or speak french. And I do identitfy that there are other intelligent, experienced, and cognitively capable people in this world and kindly ask you to be one.

Accept my apology if I was offensive the first time around.
