Hey guys, I haven't written Faberry for a really long time but I've decided to try to fill this prompt someone sent me a while ago (and reminded me about last night!) :)
Prompt: Could you
please do the Michael bathroom scene prompt? Where Rachel is actually pregnant, and not engaged, and that's the "adult matter" that she wants to talk about. Could there be a massive Faberry love confession in the bathroom, and then some Finn bashing and then following Rachel's pregnancy, and their awesome relationship and then them raising their baby together. And can Finn just fuck off and they can make Quinn the baby's second legal guardian instead of Finn please?
Additional prompt details: I am the original prompter, and thank you so much! :D I would
love it if you basically continued on from where Quinn says "are you pregnant" in an AU world where Rachel IS pregnant. Then if Quinn could confess her love to Rachel int he bathroom and yeah. Fun exciting things happen. And a lot of Finn bashing. And a strong Faberritana friendship in the story, as well as Puck and Kurt being awesome and giving Finn a severe talking to when everything comes out the open, and Finn is a dick. 3333333
Sorry about the title by the way! I'm really bad at thinking of them and I was listening to 'A thousand years' by Christina Perri so I just went with a line from that. *shrugs*
Chapter 1
"Hey." Rachel greeted as she walked determinedly into the bathroom towards Quinn "Look, I need your advice, alright? About…" Rachel cast an apprehensive look at the cheerios' leaving the room before looking back to Quinn "About an adult problem."
"Oh crap, are you pregnant?" Quinn asked, her eyes widening in visible alarm.
"No!" Rachel answered instinctively "Look, I…" she trailed off and winced at the sound of her own automatic denial "I mean…I think…I think I am."
Quinn stared at Rachel in horrified shock for a moment before shaking her head as if to clear her mind "You think you're pregnant?"
"I-I took a test." Rachel explained in a hushed tone of voice "The result was positive."
"Oh." Quinn looked slightly relieved "Well the results can be wrong. You should go for a blood test to be sure…"
"Quinn, I-I took nine more tests after the first one." Rachel interrupted sounding distressed yet slightly offended that Quinn had assumed that she'd been anything less than thorough in her investigation "They were all positive."
"Oh…"
"Oh?" Rachel echoed, tears springing to her eyes "That's it?"
Quinn took a deep breath in an attempt to focus despite the
hurt coursing through her at the revelation "It's going to be okay Ra…"
"Okay?" Rachel squeaked indignantly "How can it be okay? I'm pregnant with the child of a man who I don't…who isn't…" she threaded her hands agitatedly through her hair and turned away from Quinn, a choked sob escaping her throat "How could I be so stupid? How could I get myself into this situation? You warned me that I would regret it and…"
"It's far easier than you would think." Quinn frowned.
"I'm so stupid!" Rachel exclaimed, her voice thick with emotion "What am I going to do Quinn? This…It's going to ruin me. My future, my career…"
"Hey, look." Quinn stepped forward and placed a soothing hand on Rachel's back "It's going to be okay. We'll…we'll work something out."
Rachel dropped her hands from her hair and looked up "We?"
"We." Quinn confirmed quietly "We're friends now, right? And friends are supposed to help each other in situations like this." She inwardly cringed at the thought of how much her own friends, namely Brittany and Santana had or rather hadn't helped her when she'd been in a similar situation but quickly shook it off and focused on Rachel. The brunette was still teary but she looked slightly calmer than a moment ago "I'll help you for as long as I can."
"As long as you can?" Rachel echoed, sounding worried by the wording.
Quinn could practically feel her Yale letter burning a hole through her pocket but she quickly changed the subject "Have you told Finn yet?"
Rachel looked away awkwardly "No."
"Rachel, you need to tell him." Quinn suggested gently.
"I'm going to." Rachel sighed and carefully moved to sit on the sink counter. She chewed her lip nervously and glanced down at her fidgeting hands, adamantly avoiding eye contact with the blonde in front of her. A minute or so of tense silence ticked by until she gathered the courage to speak up.
"Finn-"
"Why-"
Rachel and Quinn laughed nervously and the latter waved for Rachel to go first "Sorry."
"No, it's…it's fine." Rachel wiped rapidly drying tears from her cheeks "What were you going to say?"
"I was just going to ask how our most important conversations take place in public bathrooms." Quinn said with a small smile "It's getting to be a bit of a ha-"
"Finn asked me to marry him." Rachel blurted out before she could chicken out.
Not for the first time since their conversation had started, Quinn felt her stomach drop in disappointment "Oh. A-are you going to say yes?"
"I told him I have to think about it." Rachel murmured nervously.
Quinn swallowed heavily against the rapidly forming lump in her throat "Right. I mean…you're pregnant and you're in love with him so it probably makes sense to seal the deal or…settle down with Finn and his stupid…"
"Quinn, are you okay?" Rachel asked carefully when Quinn trailed off.
"I'm fine." Quinn replied, though her voice cracked with emotion. She turned away to conceal her tears and tried to cover the movement by adjusting her bag on the sink.
"No you're not." Rachel stated a hint of accusation in her voice. She hopped off the sink and gently gripped Quinn's forearm to turn her around. She was surprised to find Quinn's eyes damp with unshed tears "What's…Why are you crying?"
"I'm not crying." Quinn stated defensively.
"Quinn, despite my current predicament I'm not entirely oblivious." Rachel argued worriedly "Did I say something to upset you? Are you having second thoughts about helping me? I under…"
"It' not fair!" Quinn exclaimed irritably, slamming her hand onto the counter. Rachel stepped back in reaction to the sudden movement and Quinn hurried to apologise "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."
Rachel ignored the apology, her eyes fixed intently on Quinn "What's not fair?"
"Nothing, it doesn't matter." Quinn looked away and shook her head bitterly "Not anymore anyway."
"Quinn, what is it?" Rachel asked pleadingly "Please just tell me what it is."
"Fine, do you want to know 'what it is' Rachel?" Quinn asked frustratedly "Do you really want to know?" without waiting for a confirmation from the girl in question, Quinn continued "It's not fair that you get to go off and play happy families with Finn and I'm left behind as always."
"I thought you were over Finn…"
"I am!"
"But you just said…"
"I'm not over you!"
"Oh." It took Rachel a moment or two to work out what Quinn was saying but when she did her eyes widened in surprise "Oh."
Shocked by the boldness of her own outburst, Quinn leaned back against the sink. She had regretted the words as soon as they came out of her mouth but she couldn't exactly take them back.
"You're…wow." Rachel breathed, unconsciously mimicking Quinn's position.
"Yeah." Quinn muttered. They fell into thoughtful silence for a moment or two before Quinn spoke up wearily "He doesn't deserve you, you know."
Rachel licked her suddenly dry lips "How…How long have you…?"
"A while." Quinn answered quietly when Rachel trailed off "Since before I got pregnant if I'm honest with myself."
"But you didn't even like me back then."
"I didn't like you because you made me feel things that were…unacceptable." Quinn cast a side glance at Rachel to find the other girl was watching her carefully "I was in denial then. I was trying to make myself hate you because I thought that the hate would replace everything else and I would go back to being normal."
"Oh."
Rachel's monosyllabic reaction burned out the last shred of hope Quinn was hanging onto and her bottom lip began to tremble slightly "It's too late now though. And I've probably ruined our friendship as well so we should ju…"
"I don't love Finn." Rachel interrupted, causing Quinn to falter.
"…What?"
"I mean of course I love him but…I don't think I'm in love with him." Rachel explained thoughtfully "I don't want to hurt him but I don't want to lead him into what would most certainly be a loveless marriage."
"So you're going to say…?"
"I'm going to decline his proposal." Rachel finished Quinn's sentence "But Quinn, I need to know…Are you in love with me?"
Quinn shifted uncomfortably and once again refused to meet Rachel's eyes "Why does that matter?"
"Quinn, please just answer the question." Rachel beseeched "I assure you that I need to know for a reason."
Quinn swallowed heavily in apprehension "Well…yes, I am."
"Say it." Rachel whispered, turning to face Quinn and lightly tugging her around to the same position "I need you to be sure."
Quinn looked deep into Rachel's eyes and hesitated for only a second before replying "Yes, I'm in love with you. I've never been more sure of anything in my life."
"If I were to tell you that I love you back…" Rachel proposed nervously "What would you say?"
Quinn tried in vain to supress the hope that rose in response to Rachel's question "I would say don't lie to me because you think it's what I want to hear. If you're going to say it, y-you have to be sure. You have to mean it."
"Oh, I'm sure." Rachel whispered, reaching out to lightly push a strand of hair from Quinn's cheek. She allowed her fingertips to linger for a moment before allowing her hand to drop to her side "I love you, Quinn Fabray."
"Really?" Quinn uttered softly.
"Really." Rachel whispered, leaning forward until her lips were a mere breath away from Quinn's. They lingered like that for a moment until Quinn tilted her head, intending to kiss the brunette. Rachel quickly jerked back however, a guilty expression on her face "We can't."
"Why?" Quinn asked, slightly wounded by the rejection.
"I have to break up with Finn." Rachel answered. She shifted her hand to her stomach and met Quinn's gaze "Quinn, I'm pregnant…"
"I know."
"I don't want to burden you with this." Rachel continued, a slight tremor to her voice "If you want to run while you can…"
"I'm not leaving you." Quinn frowned at the suggestion "Whatever you decide to do, we'll deal with together."
"As…friends?"
"As whatever you want." Quinn answered without missing a beat "I'll be whatever you need me to be."
Rachel smiled at the sweet statement and glanced down at where her hand was resting on her abdomen.
"Rach, I know this isn't…a happy topic or anything." Quinn spoke up shakily "But I just want you to know that I support whatever decision you make. Even if you decide…"
"I'm not doing that." Rachel said instantly "I can't do that."
Quinn breathed a silent sigh of relief "Okay. Do you want me to be there when you tell Finn?"
Rachel hesitated for a moment. She really did want Quinn there with her but it was probably best that she talk to Finn alone "I think I should probably talk to him alone. Thank you though."
"Come on." Quinn slipped her hand into Rachel's and gave a light squeeze before gently pulling her towards the door "I'll walk you to class." When they reached the door to the hallway, Quinn released Rachel's hand and opened the door for her.
"Thanks." Rachel smiled bashfully as she walked through the door. She waited for Quinn to join her before continuing the walk to class in comfortable silence.
"We should book an appointment." Quinn said suddenly "To find out for sure."
"Thanks." Rachel mumbled, nervous at the prospect yet strengthened by the unspoken assurance that Quinn would be there with her. They fell back into silence until they came to the door to Rachel's class and the girl in question turned to face Quinn "Will I see you later?"
"Of course." Quinn offered a reassuring smile "I'll meet you at your locker after school."
"Great." Rachel practically beamed "So…I'll see you later then."
"Yeah." Quinn reached out and gave Rachel's hand a light reassuring squeeze "If you need anything, give me a call."
Rachel nodded in response, unable to express her gratitude in words. She watched as Quinn turned and walked down the hallway, waiting until the blonde had turned the corner before turning to go into class.
"Miss Berry, you're late." The teacher pointed out in a bored tone of voice as Rachel closed the door behind her.
"Sorry." Rachel mumbled, a familiar feeling of dread settling upon her when she noticed Finn sitting at their usual desk. Feeling less assured without Quinn's presence, she lowered her eyes to the ground to avoid Finn's gaze and walked over to sit at the desk.
"Where have you been?" Finn leaned over to whisper.
Rachel cringed slightly at the question "I went to see the nurse. I didn't feel well."
"I need to talk to you after class." Finn stated, completely ignoring what Rachel had said "Can we go to the auditorium?"
Rachel didn't particularly want to say yes but she couldn't think of a reason to deny the request "Sure."

"So what do you want to talk about?" Rachel asked, taking a seat on the piano bench.
"I was wondering if you had thought anymore about my question." Finn answered, sitting down next to Rachel. He didn't seem to notice her slide subtly away from him "I mean I think I've given you time to think about it and I'm not rushing you or anything but…"
"I can't marry you Finn." Rachel admitted.
"What?" Finn's eyes narrowed as if the answer was confusing or at all ambiguous "Why?"
"I'm having second thoughts about…us." Rachel struggled to find the right words. She didn't want to hurt Finn but that outcome seemed inevitable, no matter how gently she broke the news.
"What do you mean?" Finn asked in confusion "About marrying me? Why would you have second thoughts about that? We're in love."
"Finn, I think I'm pregnant." Rachel confessed without thinking of the implications of her words. The admission had been bubbling beneath the surface however and she hadn't been able to ignore the urge to just admit it.
"What?" Finn twisted on the bench to stare at his girlfriend in pure shock "I…How?"
Rachel gave him a look "I think you know how it happened Finn."
"But I used a…oh shit, did you cheat on me?" Finn asked, looking pissed off at the mere thought.
"How could you ask me that?" Rachel retorted defensively "Of course I didn't. And if you remember correctly, you were in such a hurry the second time that you didn't use any protection."
"Oh…" Finn muttered in realisation. He looked like he was thinking about what Rachel had said for a moment before he broke into a grin "We're having a baby." He reached over to lay his hand on Rachel's stomach, only for her to quickly stand up and step away. He frowned at the action and looked up at her "What's wrong?"
"I can't." Rachel shook her head, speaking more to herself than to Finn.
"Can't what?" Finn asked as he moved to stand up "We're having a baby Rachel. Getting married makes even more sense now than it did before."
"That's not what I meant." Rachel felt suddenly claustrophobic at the thought of settling down with Finn "I can't marry you."
"But you love me!"
"I don't!" Rachel practically yelled, the feeling of being backed into a corner causing her to forget about her earlier aim to be as gentle as possible. She faltered at the hurt expression on Finn's face "Finn, I'm sorry. I love you but not in that way."
"What are you talking about?" Finn asked, his voice cracking slightly "You do love me. You told me that you loved me!"
"I-I thought I did…"
"Bullshit!" Finn exploded angrily, causing Rachel to take a slight step back "I can't believe you're doing this to me."
"Finn…"
"You know what, Rachel?" Finn interrupted angrily "Leave me the hell alone. If you don't want me around, you can deal with the problem by yourself!" with that said, her stormed off towards the stage door, leaving Rachel standing alone.
"Finn!" Rachel exclaimed tearfully as she watched him disappear from sight. The sound of the door slamming shut echoed around the auditorium and Rachel lowered herself back onto the piano bench. She sat there in stunned silence for a moment before reaching for her cell phone. She found the number she was looking for in her phone book and pressed the dial button before lifting it to her ear.
"Quinn?" Rachel murmured when the phone was picked up "I need you. I-I'm in the auditorium. Can you…"
"I'm on my way."
