The Social Network
Mark/Eduardo pre-slash, PG-13
disclaimer: Most emphatically not mine, also this fic is based on the dramatized versions of Mark & Eduardo featured in the film The Social Network, most certainly not the real people because I know nothing about them and would be very silly to assume otherwise &c ad ( Read more... )

Gah! Sad! But good!

I like that even though this had a sad ending and angsty future stuff (whoops, I used the word! xD), you interspersed it with fluffy flashbacks. I loved drunk!Mark, and the cuddling on the couch. And the awkwardness of the conversation during breakfast, especially Mark trying to make offers of friendship (i.e. watching lame movies).
I think you really got both their characters down. And I also think you've done a really good job differentiating between the future and past characters. It's hard to explain, but I feel like the Mark in your flashbacks is obviously different from the Mark in the future (well, I guess it's the present, gah, I'm confusing myself). Like, the future/present Mark is colder, but regrets more. Does that make sense?

You write really well. I especially liked this part:

He falls asleep smelling like missed opportunities and mistakes and disappointment, and won't that be funny in a few years' time, when he can look back on all of this and say, 'wow, Mark, look at what you did, weren't you one sorry bastard back then, ha ha.' Hilarious.

Great description/imagery in the first part with the smelling-like-intangible-things, and then excellent irony/angst/whatever in the last part.

Okay. I'm really not making sense. I'm gonna blame it on NaNoWriMo.

This is really good and I didn't notice and tense-shifting, which is good 'cause that bothers me. I really hope you write a sequel to this, or just more TSN stories in general. :)
