A day in the life of a Viking.

Got up. Ate breakfast. Gathered up my thesis. Printed out my query materials for Done With Mirrors and got them into a large binder clip for shipping purposes, while watching the first episode of Darkplace on the television company's website (survey says: freakin' hilarious).

Got a message from Amity, and while chatting proposed that we go get lunch together (still not dating...still 100% not a problem). Went to get lunch. Were treated very poorly at this new, hole-in-the-wall diner that opened right next to a much better one. Just in case the name itself isn't dissuasive, don't bother going to Betty Boop's Diner...the selection is very vanilla, and we seriously were there for ten minutes without getting asked about drink orders or even getting water. When we got up to leave, they just said thank you like it never occurred to them they had a table walking out on them. Wound up going to Subway because otherwise Amity was going to eat my face on the sidewalk and then run, howling and clawing, through the streets hunting for dessert. Ate Subway at work while showing her the work of Amy Winfrey (also known as Amy Winfrey and more recently Amy Winfrey). While eating, had another proposal made..."Want to go see X3 after work? I'm done at four!"

4 hours later, I'm home. Thankfully I had time to drop DWM off at the post office in the basement of Macy's (that building gives new meaning to the word "conglomerate"), so that's out...I'll be dropping off my thesis on the way to work tomorrow. I am very nervous about the novel submission, and will get even more nervous when I send it off to a publisher instead of an agent later this week. I also want to send a short story out to someone...but who I'm not sure. What, I am...I want to see if anyone will publish "Live from the Serpent Room." I think it stands on its own merits, though it needs a run through the Belt Sander of Creativity.

To review X3, because you all want to know (those who have not seen it), the rating on my Spend-O-Meter is "Matinee Price" (approximately a 4 out of 5; the Meter pegs at "Full Price," then goes through "Matinee Price," "New Rental," and "Cheap Rental" on its way to "Don't Bother"). I will perhaps post a more detailed, cut-for-spoilers review later, if I feel like it/have the energy. For now, I am detoxing from running around and maybe writing later...maybe. This may also be one of my two days off a week right here. We'll see.

Oh, and the last book of the Dark Tower is rocking my world.

End Transmission.
