Yippee, I'm going to NYC in July! It all started as a "maybe", "if-ish" kinda deal, but I have been talking w/ a couple of my DC friends, Katrina and Julie, about getting together this summer. I miss my girls, and I've come to realize that it's important to do what you can to keep up good friendships. I wish I could meet up with all my DC people ( Read more... )

Well that's just great... You go visit friends and family and end up in Florida and New York. And me? I go visit friends and family and end up in the suburbs outside Chicago, and Ohio. :P

Oh well, I shouldn't complain--I've gotten to visit NYC several times now, and will surely be returning soon. I was hoping to make it back this summer, actually, but unless I head alone, it doesn't look too likely; we'll see.

I know what you mean about keeping up friendships (hence my visit to Ohio); it'll be even more important to remember that if I move to NYC and most of my friends are still in Louisville.

I'm happy for you! Have you bought plane tix yet? I can help you make it a pretty cheap trip, especially if you're not paying (or not paying much) for lodging; you can get away with a direct, round-trip ticket to LaGuardia for under $300 (though in your case you might want to go to/through DC), you can eat cheap at good restaurants in the city, and there's plenty of awesome stuff to do for free (e.g. Staten Island Ferry, Brooklyn Bridge, all the museums). I also wrote up a bunch of restaurant recommendations for my friend who went over Memorial Day; lemme know if you're interested in any of that.

Just don't come back from NYC/Jersey saying, "Fuhgeddaboutit!"
