Went mountain biking at Whistler today. So much fun! Original plan was to zipline, but we made all our plans last-minute, and everything was booked up. It was a bit crowded in the car, two hours with five of us -- more than two on the way back because of traffic. But fortunately my sister-in-law's car has an interior the size of a small apartment so we survived without driving each other up the wall. Even with all of my brother's antics (the close staring sessions designed to freak out his victims, for example). It was a bit of a throwback to the old days because this was the SECOND day in a row that we saw my younger brother. That hasn't happened since he moved out back in December. When we dropped him off at his place he was all, "okay, vacation's over. Time to go back to work!" Literally. He had to be back by seven so he could get in a few hours at work tonight.

The amazing thing about Whistler is that you can't take it for granted that the people around you are fellow Canadians enjoying the Canada Day long weekend. Aside from the broad collection of licence plates in the parking lots, there were so many different languages being spoken, so many different accents. It's just... an unparalleled experience.

On an aside -- I've given up vegetarianism... partially. I had salmon today and I'm going to have chicken from time to time. I'm still nixing beef and everything else, but I just lost my drive. If I believed in it -- if it felt essentially WRONG to eat meat -- then I'd stick by it. But that's not why I gave it up in the first place.
