Love Trio

A list of my lovers (in order):

Hera
Poseidon
Orpheus

Hera

Hurricanes,
Earthquakes,
Monsoons,
We unleashed them
upon each other,
Not knowing whether
we wanted to
make love to or
Strangle the other.

Poseidon

One day,
the unthinkable happened.
The nets I had cast
into the sea
turned up a fish prince,
who offered me wishes
in exchange for his freedom.

Only he
was no fish,
And took me down
into the sea,
Granted me a tail, long hair,
called me Siren
and showed me his clamshell house and kelp garden.

We swam through deep waters,
his tentacles and blue arm veins
making me amorous.
We played,
sliding over each other
slick-bellied, tales flapping.
We lay on the bottom of the ocean floor afterwards,
watching constellations
of fish swim overhead.

Always, he went away from me-
Ever the fickle darling.
there were winds that
called to him, and tides
that embraced him.
I left him messages inside shells.
They all turned into pearls.

Time passed,
the currents carved me
into stone.
Lest he returned,
He found me not.

Orpheus

He kept me
Waiting so long,
I started to think
Light, colour and touch
Had all been a dream.

Deliver me!

If it had not been
For your sweet murmurings,
I would have long
Departed
For that other place.
