Death from above

Just was reading up on the current avian flu outbreaks. The WHO's and CDC's takes on it are not good.

We have a virus:

* Foreign to humans

* Essentially uncontrollable in the wild and domestic bird populations.

* With a small, but existent ability to be transmitted from bird to person and person to person.

* Largely fatal in humans

* Known to mutate

and a limited supply of effective anti-flu drugs, an insufficient vaccine production capacity, and no way to create an effective vaccine until a new strain arises.

This does not paint a rosy picture. Not that I'm going to worry -- No point fretting about what you can't change.
