200 Wii points for glory

I've recently learned about Pepsi's Rock Band summer promotion. Basically if you buy 20-oz bottles of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and some other varieties, your bottle cap will have a code you can redeem to download a free track for Rock Band.

But it's even better if you don't particularly care about Rock Band and own a Wii. If you submit your code at pepsirockband.com for a free song download, and choose your console as the Wii, the code they e-mail you is for 200 Nintendo points. Nintendo points that can be used on anything in the shop channel, not necessarily Rock Band.

Since I buy Virtual Console and Wiiware titles somewhat regularly from the shop channel, this has come in very handy. Especially as I'm in the middle of getting DLC from Final Fantasy IV: The After Years.

I've so far bought about seven 20-oz Pepsis and gotten 1400 Wii Points in return.

Some tips:

-The 20-oz bottles are only singles you can get at places like convenience stores or vending machines; 6-packs don't have the promotion.

-The drinks that have the promotion have yellow bottle caps. The actual labeling on the drinks are not different.

-The points work for the DSi channel as well as the regular Wii Shop Channel

-I've seen 20-oz Pepsis now typically run about $1.50 or so at most places. To maximize your value, you may want to seek out a Dollar Tree or vending machine that might have them for only a buck.

-The biggest downside to all this is you have to drink Pepsi... and Pepsi Throwback isn't included in the promotion :\
