I was hoping to hold off on buying a new TV until next year, preferably until after I become a homeowner. My current set (A 27" Sony Trinitron) seems to want to crap out on me. The buttons on the front panel seem to be messed up, and regularly make on screen menus appear and disappear and swap out which Video selection I have it tuned into.
So any thoughts about what I should consider getting? Remember, I'm not made of money, so I'm shooting for something under $1,000. And I have no idea what to get by way of 720p, 1080p, 1080i or whatever else is out there.
Or is there anything on the horizon that maybe I should hold out for?
