It's unbelievable that almost eight months since its release, the Nintendo Wii is still hard as hell to find. I finally got mine a few weeks before vacation by arriving at Best Buy three and a half hours before the store opened on a Sunday morning and getting a voucher. I'd never done something like that before, and it was a pretty crazy experience.
We've gotten both Zelda and the new Paper Mario, which Sarah spends much of her time playing. But for me... I'm finding myself drawn to the Wii's Virtual Console library. I never owned a Nintendo 64 (or a Game Cube for that matter) so I'm suddenly finding myself getting caught up on what Nintendo's been up to for the last decade.
Kind of funny, giving that I used to be big into emulation. But there's something different, something... genuine about dropping some money and having these games back on my TV in my living room.
So far, I got Mario Kart 64 (which Sarah can kick my ass in), F-Zero X (which I can kick Sarah's ass in) and Dragon Curse for Turbo Grafix-16 (a port of the Master System's Wonder Boy III). And I just learned the original Paper Mario was released today. Yeah, my wallet's going to be hurting if this keeps up.
