I just learned that a good friend of mine, Andy Smith, died last night. He was a fun, easy-going guy who was probably one of the best drummers I had ever seen perform. He was one of the founding members of a local band Family Tree, of which I had just recently become webmaster of

I spoke to Andy's brother (and band frontman) a little while ago. He seemed pretty well composed over the phone, but I can only imagine the pain he must be feeling right now.

I went ahead and sent out a notice on the band's mailing list, and also updated www.growfamilytree.com with a quick graphic. I wrote the text myself, I really didn't know what to say in a situation like this. I *want* to be eloquent, but I just draw a total blank. Hopefully my words won't further upset anyone.
