This is for Day 9, but I'm still a day behind...

Okay, I'm copping out a little by just doing another short little explanation of stuff.  Yay crazy last week of school.  I am using this moment to basically take a break from actually doing homework.  Lots of fun.  Anywho, this post is basically my thought process of some of the things I've been thinking of with the stories.

Figuring Jett out is quite the task.  There will be traces of him in the stories I've already told.  As I said before, these are all just rough summaries.  A lot is missing and a lot will change.  Jett is a little crazy and I think he's lost his mind to Void a bit.  Jett really likes messing things up, just because he can.  He is out to get Eugene on account that he does view Eugene as his one true threat.  After all, Eugene was the one who had basically confined Jett to his current state.  But Jett is getting himself out and causing havoc.  Jett knows very well of Eugene's nature, that he is half-genie.  As such, Jett is looking for Eugene's true name because that would give him a for sure advantage over Eugene.  Really, Jett is a trouble maker and he is one of those pretty-boy bad guys.

You know, that reminds me.  Perhaps I should explain a little about the nature of Eugene's true name.  The kind of genie that Eugene's father was, was one who's power is focused and derived from his name.  Every djinn of that nature has their true name written down somewhere.  If a person knows this true name, then they have control over that djinn.  Typically it is the thing that is used to confine genies and djinn to something, like a lamp.  The genies have a love/hate relationship with that.  The reason is because they greatly pride themselves in their wit and ability to be sarcastic and con their way out of doing what they are told to.  But there is the problem of being confined that bugs the living daylights out of them.  Unfortunately if they do not know their true name and are not confined in some way then their magic can actually overwhelm them and make them slaves to it.  Basically they would obey and act mindlessly and pretty much a bit on animal instinct, only without as clear reasoning for what they do.

What the thing they are confined to really does is act as a channel for any excess or unused magic.  Their magic is sort of odd in that it builds up in them.  They either have to use it or let it be channeled out.  Using it with out a channel posses the risk of using too much and having it take control by doing a sort of magical back lash of trying to quickly fill the spot left by the used magic.  And not using it can let it take control too.  The channel is also a sort of battery and remote control.  It can store a bit of magic so if they end up needing to use a lot then the channel can just easily cycle magic back to the genie, making it seem like they have an abundance.

Eugene is a unique situation.  He obviously has magic, and his use of it to nearly being lost to the "wild" magic was what led to his banishment (which is actually more of a go find out your true name and get control before you blow something up).  But at the same time, his human part affects the magic backlash differently.  There also is the possibility that he does not have a true genie name on account of his human half.  This would lead to him being really dangerous if he were to ever lose control because there would be no way of confining him short of destroying him.  Granted, because of his human half it is possible to call him back if he ever loses control even without his true name.  The catch is he has got to be in the mood to be listening.

And a random side note about the things that the genies are confined to.  No genie can touch or mess with their own confining thing.  They also cannot control each other's powers that way and in fact it is difficult to move another genie's confining thing.  Because Eugene is half human, he could manage to move things like lamps around with only a minor discomfort.  It has actually become quite the discussion among some of the older djinn as to whether or not (if Eugene does get a confining element) Eugene would be able to touch and hold his own confining thing.

Because of his human half, Eugene's magic requires physical contact to initiate a spell.  Now, he could make a spell hold without contact, but that does take quite a bit of magic and so Eugene is a little careful about that because of the whiplash effect (which isn't very pleasant for Eugene).  Eugene has to use magic, which is part of the reason why he never wears shoes.  It is so he will subconsciously use his magic.  Coming up soon, what will only be talked about the characters but not seen, will be Eugene getting a bad backlash that kind of makes him a little scary and out of control.  Luckily he had told Trench something that could be done to help snap him out.

Still, in the next story Eugene is going to use a bit of magic and Jett is going to make an actual appearance (will, sort of) and that will set Eugene off a bit and Trench, Daniel and Julius will have an 'intervention' where they practically tackle Eugene and tell him to get a hold of himself.  Eugene has gone a very long time (genie's don't age very fast, in fact almost not at all, so though Eugene looks around 20 he is actually much, much old) without knowing his true name (his dad did say he has one that his mother had written down) and with leaving his magic unconfined.  He has gone several times longer than any full blood genie and it has been becoming harder to keep in control with his "wild" magic.
