Persephone

Feb 28, 2012 23:10

Persephone swallows her doom as seven pomegranate seeds. They sow themselves into her heart, like maggots burrowing into good fruit. She doubles over, gagging. One bursts, crushed by her will: she spits out fluid thick and red as grenadine syrup, leaving her teeth and lips looking bloody.

Anyone who eats the food of Dis is forbidden to leave the underworld, but swearing upon the name of Styx is binding. Which is more breakable: oaths or rules? the determination of a goddess or the will of a god?

Persephone wipes the juice off her mouth and stands up to find out.

NOTES:

Based on openedlocket’s entry. I highly recommend reading it, for stories about Persephone are always good.

Had so many ideas for this one, but time got away from me and by the time I tackled it to the ground, I was in a rush and decided to pick the first one that came to mind. I offered up one of my past 100-word entries for remixing, so I thought it’d be fun to do another one for my remix.
