I'm naming most of files/folders on my laptop in Japanese. This is to help my Japanese, to memorize the kanji. My Japanese is awful, I couldn't even remember the kanji for 'music' (ongaku). A shame, since while I don't have many talents (at least that I know about), I think I have a talent for languages. I could be good. But, I'm lazy. I would ( Read more... )

J-rock is my favorite, I think.

Sometimes I almost get anxious because I'm aware how many thing that surely would improve my existence, would make my life happier, I'm missing. I'm not talking just about music, but also anime/manga series, movies, etc. One of my favorite anime series, Persona -trinity soul-, I discovered by accident. And the only reason I gave NANA a try is that the series is my friend's, someone's I truly adore, favorite.

*lol* Heh, I just take it all in with a stride as I go along... I think right now, I'm just going way too much WHEEEEEEE I CAN, I CAN, with writing and drawing and creating, because I've been so bogged down for quite a few years, so I haven't felt like consuming as much as producing. All in good time, I'll probably get over this drive some time during 2012... :)

I've never been much into producing. I'm quite satisfed with my existence when drunk off my ass and listening to rock music (just like right now; I just consumed my 3rd bottle of red wine this week ^^ ). I guess if I was more into producting, it would be different-- I wouldn't feel anxious about missing others' stuff when I could produce my own, just as awesome. But, while I sometimes feel a strong need to express myself and for example draw something, write a poem, it's not often. I get off of other people' works. I think this is one of the reasons I like studying languages-- I don't have to be creative, contribute anything myself.

Hm, that's funny -- for me, I like studying languages exactly because I like producing! Learning a language, for me, is learning how to work with it, not so much just to understand it.

Still, for me right now, I'm on a huge creative kick because I spent the past ten-ish years studying and absorbing information, and I'm so sick of it that it's really hard to sit down even with things I enjoy. It doesn't help that my job requires me to constantly absorb something new. :P It's not that I don't like reading/studying/consuming, I do. I've just reached some kind of a quota, I suppose, so I'm not doing it as much as I normally would. I'm one of those types who would read several books in the course of a single day, when I was younger. OMFG I nearly said "when I was your age" -- god these are the signs, I'm getting ooooooooooold in the head. I'm sure I'll get back to reading and studying once I've let this creative muse play for a while. ^^

However...

This is fun, too. ;)

For me it's to understand it. The reason I started learing Japanase? I wanted to be able to read my WK doujishi collection. The reason I started learning Russion? The need to be able to enjoy the Russian WK fandom, read their translations. I'm totally fine with not contributing/creating ( ... )

Another interesting thing, the whole living in your own world and not feeling like part of the society, I have the same -- but I create my own world, heh. I didn't get properly into "fandoms" until just a few years ago, either. I'm very much oriented to creating original content, original characters and original stories and that is what I spent my youth doing. I've always loved exploring other people's worlds as well, of course -- always enjoyed reading and watching shows and movies. I think it was only a matter of time before those two love affairs would combine into one and make me a fanfiction writer, I think. XD Anyway, it's interesting I think how similar traits can create two very opposite approaches.

I'd love to do a proper personality disorder test sometime. I'm quite curious as to the result.

I totally fail at creating OCs. I tried a few times, while thinking up my doll's stylizations/personalities, and I couldn't stop copying (heavily inspring myself with?) already existing characters. I think it's quite healthy to be able to create your own wordld, but I'm unable to do this. My own characters are lame; I'm unable to create characters as interesting and complex as those that already exist. Like Omi Tsukiyono and Shinichi Okazaki. I once tried hard to create my own character for X-Men since I love the settings my no characters is truly my taste but I couldn't get excited when I knew that the chara is my original... I guess our different appreach is noticeable in how we feel about canon versus fanon? For me the author's word is the god's word. I always played with others' characters and got excited with info even as trivial as what toothpaste they use ;)

Possible that our different approach shows in the canon vs fanon -- however, I need to mention that I used to be a lot more like you when I was younger. (Ironically, when I was about your age. XD) I'm not sure what happened, really. I still prefer to fill in the gaps of canon rather than change canon when I write, though, but I do enjoy reading and writing also non-canon things. *shrug*

Just that... uh... whenever I start writing or developing my own stories even when I base them off someone else's story, I can't HELP but start creating OC's and elaborate back stories. I don't try... it just happens. :P

Perfectly fine. :) I understood what you were saying. You just make me wish it was Friday so I could have a couple of ciders under my belt, myself...

I'm just opening my 4th bottle :DD (just run to get it before they close the shop at 11 p.m.) Friday or not, since I work at my mother's firm, I usually can work when I feel like it. I'm one terribly spoilt human being. 'Life is not fair' so I don't feel bad because of it ;DDD
