It's amazing how some movies can really get you thinking. Tonight I watched sisterhood of the traveling pants which was cute and Finding Neverland which was on the sad side.
Even though the first movie was kinda corny it got me thinking about things. They have this pair of jeans that symbolizes their friendship. With us it's of course "the remedy". The 4 of them seperate for the summer and experience all these different things, which was like when everyone left for college. It's just so comforting knowing that our friendship is never going to die out.
But there is an even bigger theme to the movie. Each of the girls accomplishes something that they had never been able to conquer before. Which gets me to thinking about my life. There is so much I want to see and do. When i get older i don't want to be disappointed in myself because i held myself back from experiencing certain things, or i never made the effort to see certain things. i can name so many things off the top of my head. Such as ride the back of a motorcycle with my hair blowing in the breeze, bungee jumping, visit Europe and all it's exotic places, I want to go skiiing. I want to lay on the beach from sunrise to sunset. I want to drive cross country with the remedies. I want to overcome my fears. I want to learn as many instruments as possible. I want to see a ballet in the city. I want to make a difference in a child's life. Go camping in the woods (even though I'd probably be scared shitless).
And these are just a few of the things I want to do. My problem is that sometimes i get so caught up in school and all the things "I have to do" that i tend to forget or push aside the things I want to do. The fact that I need to start paying careful attention to my job and school etc, doesn't mean that I should forget about having fun also.
So now I'm in my twenties and i'm just starting a whole new decade in my life. And that doesn't mean that I'm leaving anything behind from the past ten years, but its ten more years for tons more memories.
So many important things can happen, but it's the things that happen in a split second that will last you a lifetime.
