I think I just about died!
Just in time for the real end of the LJ strike*.
JOHNNY WEIR WINS HIS FIRST WORLDS MEDAL!!!
This World's marks the first time I've ever streamed a competiton live. As in I had the live audio feed of UK Eurosport and Turkish TV on at 11 pm until 12 mn. It didn't matter to me that my whole family (cousins, aunts and uncles) are all here at our house in Tagaytay. All I care about is getting to watch Johnny.
And oh my gulay my Thesis goodluck to Johnny worked!!! Sure he didn't perform perfectly but OMG!!!! Bronze baby!!!
It was really weird though. I kept hoping that Lambiel and Takahashi would fall. Normally I wouldn't do that since I love Stephane (and ladybugs because of him) and Dai-kun is soo Japanese and hot. But I love Johnny Weir more. It's been his goal (aside from the Olympic Gold of course) to medal at Worlds. Of course he'd rather get the gold but he will be insanely happy about this. Take that USFSA and critics. Johnny ain't just a pretty face with a witty mouth, he's a Skater baby!
The whole competition was soo exciting. Brian Joubert had such an arrogant prediction about who's medalling, completely leaving off Tomas Verner who beat him at Euros and of course Johnny. Well he was proven wrong. The short program was amazing. All wonderful performances and the scores were so tight. Then the long program was a semi-splat fest. Johnny was sorta wonky on his landings, Dai fell, twice. Lamby, at least from what I could deduce from the crappy feed, fell twice and his axel as usual sucked. Only Joubert and Jeff Buttle did a program perfectly. In the end it was quad-less Buttle who won. Johnny would be happy since he's been saying all along you don't need a quad to win. Even though Johnny did perform a quad toe loop (slightly two-footed landing) he was still right.
Buttle was so cute. He was crying when Oh! Canada was being sung in the medal ceremony. Soo proud.
I love Figure Skating. I love it so much.
*Because the owners of LJ decided that we who are sticking it out in the Basics and everyone else who don't want ads cluttering up the space should not be listened to. Yeah right.
