Amidst all the chaos in the country, from elected Senators in jail walking out of his trial to the government over-reacting and arresting as many people as they can, what do I notice? The guy wearing a wig standing behind Danilo Lim while he was making his statement. Honestly why is he wearing a wig?
On a less shallow note...
This whole thing is just odd. We don't really know what happened inside the trial court so we're not really sure why exactly did Trillianes et al. leave and walk towards Manila Pen. It looks and feels weird. I mean I'm all for getting a new president (but the how and the who is very difficult, I'd rather no current politician in office run), but what exactly did they expect today? People to just flock into the hotel? It doesn't happen like that. People need something dramatic to get them moving. The Garci thing was one thing that should've ignited a People Power but no, there wasn't anyone who called for one. Walking out of your trial and then saying that people should brave the rain and the crazy traffic does not spur people on. If they really wanted something to happen, they should have a concrete ideal being fought for like they did back in 2003 or at least tell us what happened inside that court room.
It was obvious that the people in Manila Pen today had no plan. In the end what we got was an excuse for the government to over-react. Now they can get to impose a totally useless curfew (according to the mom it's probably because the military wants to ensure supporters from the ranks not get to Manila) without any legal precendence (now according to Ma'am Lambino in ANC). They arrest the media which is a really stupid decision in their parts no matter if there are Magdalo people pretending to be press. You hurt media, the media hurts back. Trust me the media outfits will not show anything good relating to the government for a while. But honestly, you arrest Ces Drilon and hope to God that no one says anything bad? She's on cam, people know her. Media is such a strong power, essentially a representative of the people that it does not bode well that they were arrested.
It's just so weird and random. And now we are paying for it.
On the other hand, the CNN anchor is so woefully underinformed. Love the fact that the Philippine media would rather air in the RP than giving footages to international media. Although he did say one really witty thing: "I guess they like to live luxuriously." Hehehhee, true, they do love 'em hotels.
Also, Ma'am Schriever treated us to lunch today.
